Its hubby's new car ...

In Nov. he turned his 05 Mariner in at the end of its lease and then we traded my P5 in for a new DD since its "tour of duty" was over. Thats when the 07 Sonata V6 came into play. But living with only 1 car has been a burden at times so it was finally time to get him something nice

With 425 hp on tap this should be fun -- expect for the gas (gas guzzler tax and something like 15mpg on Premium)

He already has mods planned: Tint, Thermostat (11 hp for $16 !!!), intake, exhaust ... the 7.0L stroker kit with GSM blower (putting down a cool 700+ RWHP) ... told him he has to wait till the car is paid off for that to happen!

Dealer has one "coming in by the end of the month" and his name is already on it.

I want plenty of pics when you take delivery of that monster.

Those SRT-8 chargers are drop dead sexy.
 
11hp from a thermostat? wtf?

I'd almost advise against the stroker kit and just say to go with the blower alone. 700whp is a bit hard to control on the streets, especially if he's not used to a car with real power.
 
Damn that car looks mean even standing still. Kind of like my car........
 
I dont know if I would be making that kind of investment with 3+ dollar a gallon gas....But it is a sweet car. Enjoy!
 
Very nice.... The mpg would have steered me away from it but if it isn't for DD then why not have FUN! Enjoy!

Gas prices be damned!

Congrats on the purchase. Its a very cool car! I hope your husband enjoys every second of owning it! When you work hard in life its nice to finally get to reward yourself.

Oh yeah, ditto on the Manual Transmission conversion!

Apparently there are HUGE heat soak issues and the lower tstat (as well as a small fan mod) corrects it.

He has no problem with high HP cars ... but any "real" mods are MANY MANY months away. But it would be stroker kit ... drive it like that for MANY MANY months ... then add the blower. Dont have the $$ to spend on those like we used to :)

The gas situation isnt really a huge concern ( its rated at 14/20 so not TOO bad) -- it wont be this high forever plus its more of a "weekend" car anyway. We commute to work in the Sonata so this is more for fun or when we NEED to take 2 cars

I'd hate to turn this into an environmentalist vs big Oil vs gaz guzzler debate and instread focus on the awesomeness that is the Charger SRT-8 but if the U.S of A would just drill for its own oil, you'd see gas prices go down so fast, it would make your head spin! Simple supply and demand.

However since I would like to see alternative fuels encouraged I kinda hope thats the direction we go. Gas is here to stay for a long time to come though. I'm gunna enjoy it while we have it. :)
