Ya you cant cover up your plate in any way. Also, you can't lower your car.(too much anyhow) And my friend got a ticket cause he put amber lights to light up his license plate. The cop was walking around his car for about 30 minutes looking for something to ticket and thats what he found after all that time. It was a couple hundred bucks too.

If it's not too late, your friend should check the law to make sure the ticket is valid. On one of french investigative report shows they brought up a case where a guy was ticketed for having put little blue lights on his car (the ones like when you change your windshield washer spray things for the one with the lights). The cop had said that blue lights were reserved to cop cars only. On the show they looked up the law and found out that as long as they aren't flashing, you can add whatever color lights you want on your car. I think when cops are having a bad day (donut diet) they get pretty creative.

Either that or they are trying to fill their quota for the month.

This happened a few years ago so its definitely too late. But thanks for the help.

I heard Terry Dimonte from CHOM FM say that he got a $250 ticket for covering up "Je me souviens" with a plate frame. It's an old story, but he mentionned it on the radio.

I have a small Canada flag on my plate, never been bothered. I live in Quebec, but it says "Bank of Canada" on my money(...). I'm Canadian and very proud of it.

It's up to the Cop and how hard you want to push it. IMO, the licence plate is supposed to be visible and uncovered.

But here's what I don't get, if it were really illegal, why do some dealers deliver the car to you with a plate frame that covers the "Je me souviens" sign? My mom just got a new car with one of those on it, and I would figure that if it were illegal the dealers wouldn't do it due to liability issues..?

The dealer I bought my car from actually has license plate frames that cover up "South Carolina" at the bottom of our plate w/ "Charleston, SC." Go figure...

je me souviens de la nuits des longs couteaux. I know its not that, but for me thats what it stands for. Reminds me how much of a fucktard Pierre Eliot Trudeau was... And they named the Dorval airport after him.. what an insult to the Quebec people. FART airport.
In my head and whenever I talk, It is still Dorval to me and when I hear someone say P. E. T. I correct them and say it's Dorval you tard.

yea, im still and will always be going to Dorval

what a ****** waste of money that was

Even if it IS illegal..like half the cars i see in downtown has some kind of license plate covers on them..and they all hide the Je me souviens text..and i have NEVER seen or heard of anyone who had trouble with covering their license plate as long as you can see the actual immatriculation like ABC 123...
As long as you don't modify the plate itself..like bending it or cutting it, i don't think there's anything illegal regarding hiding that stupid text..

i have been running around with blue turn signal lights and no cops ever bugged me....yet. So i wouldn't worry either.

and i thought Je me souviens stood for something like "I remember you english bastards for invading our province and taking canada away from french people"...which i think is highly possible (canada)

All other canadian provinces (or american states for that matter) has something "nice" written on their plate..Beautiful British Columbia, Yours to Discover, Canada's Ocean Playground, and so on...but quebec just had to stand out..so came "I remember"...

I love living in quebec and i love the french canadian culture here..but some things are just bizarre when you think about them...

It's simple, Remove the F-ing thing. When I went to get my car, I asked them to not put any stickers on the car, or I would not take it.
