Is this a decent system (will it all work well together)?

Why the hell would you EVER buy a set of speakers without listeningto how they sound first. To do so is simple stupidty. You need to go and listen to your possible options and make sure you like the way they sound.

For my ear, I would not spend a dime for a single speaker you have yet listed as I think they all soud lousy. But my ear and yours are very different. You need to find out what they sound like to you and your music.

I in no way trust those PG amps. they couldn't give the damn things away.

The Image dynamic sub must be matched in impedance to the amp you are using. If they are not you will get only half the power from the amp that you should or you will fry the amp if it doesn't go into protection.

on a side not from a 3 owner, you may want to add some sound deadening to that list as well... even with the stock speakers the sound deadening made a huge difference. and if you haven't already there is a tsb about a plastic cup rattlin in the doors you may want to get that checked out as well...

Chuyler, is that all the wiring I need for amp? Do I need wiring for the sub or speakers?

1sty, what do you suggest I purchase then in terms of amps or speakers? Do you think the Hifonics Zeux ZX4400 amp would be a better choice of amp?
As for the speakers, where should I visit? I have a Circuit City, Best Buy, Tweeter, and Myer Emco relatively close to me.

Tsunami, what is a "tsb"?

Thanks all.

That is all the wiring you should need. There is some speaker wire in the kit to connect the subwoofer and speakers. As I mentioned, there is only 20 ft so you might need a little more.

I'm not so sure about the amp either but when you're on a budget you can't really be picky.

If you have time, head on over to BestBuy and Tweeter and listen to some speakers in the under $100 range. Write down the model numbers of the ones you like and search for them on the internet when you get home. Remember, any 5x7 or 6x8 is a direct fit. You can also install 5.25" or 6.5" speakers but it will take more work.

Hifonics is a good bang for the $ amp, and so is a Cadence Q4000.

I have no personal experience with either model amp, but I've only heard good things from those who have. and like mentioned, on a budget you can't be too picky.

Go to all of those stores and listen to all of there speakers. Decide what you like the best.

Hifonics would not be on my list either. Infact I see you making just about every mistake I ever did. I would suggest going to tweeter and saying flat out, "I have $500 total to spend, give me the best balanced system you can". Tell them you need a head unit with an aux input.

Just don't let them give you crap speakers. get ones that are near the price you were going to use or more. Let them decided if they can price work things to earn your buisness. They just might surprise you.

Trying to stretch a budget by throwing all warrenties away to get a chincy product at best and one thats origin you can never verify, is not a good idea, ever. Pay a little more and get a better product from a dealer that will totaly take care of you and any problem you ever happen to have. If you need it now, get a solid head unit and a really nice pair of front speakers. Leave it at that for a few months. Hell even if you do this via online, if you must, you will still get products actualy worth owning and that you will want to have for a long time.

Its better to buy a product that you will actauly want to takeout of your car when you sell it then one that won't be worth the time of retrieval. Do it right from the start bro, spend the money on less good product then more crap thats only oing to get discarded for better equipment any ways.

I will tell you from personal experience that Oz makes some great speakers. I have 6.5" in my front door and 6x9s in the rear deck and they sound great, even with the stock head unit. I plan on adding 2 of their Matrix 10" subs and a Clarion DXZ955MC head unit when I pay off my laptop. I would highly recommend them.

I was just suggested the following system for $500 shipped:
--(1)Pioneer DEH-P3700MP MP3, remote, 2 pairs of RCA outputs
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/product/detail/0,,2076_4039_149245002,00.html

--(1)Oz Audio Vector 12" 12" sub, 350watts RMS, nice SQ sub
http://jti-innovation.com/oz/oz_prod_vec_sub.htm

-(1)-Oz Audio Vector 6.5" Coaxials I suggested 6.5" rather than 6x8", b/c
round speakers will generally have a little better sound quality than an
oval speaker..I can get oval for around the same price though, if that's
what you want.

--(1)MA Audio M589i 220watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohm, or 400 RMS bridged for sub.
http://www.maaudio.com/productcatalog.cfm?class=47473

Ive actually decided I can afford to spend $100 more, bumping my total up to $600. What part should I spend more money on now then?

over what has already been suggested I'd spend the extra $ on the front speakers, and maybe a little more on the 4-ch amp.

The Image Dynamics IDQ 12" needs about 300-400 watts RMS. Its a great sub and people win audio competitions with it. However, the sub is only as good as the amp powering it, and 4 channel amps that put out that kind of power are not cheap. You could drop down to the Image Dynamics ID 12" and save a few dollars. It only needs 200-300 watts RMS...

With that sub you could pick up any amp that puts out 4x50 to 4x75 watts RMS and it will play a little louder than the IDQ since it requires less power.

Here are some factory renewed amps that are cheap:

I would not recommend any of these amps if you were planning to buy a new one or if you were planning on building a nice system that will last longer than the life of the car. I am simply looking at the deals sounddomain is offering and trying to get you the most for your money.

I apologize for not being a connoisseur of ghetto cheap audio equipment. Tripple your budget and I can make some better suggestions.

What value am I looking at when comparing the amps in terms of watts for my system (running a pair of front speakers and one sub)?
139 watts x 4 at 2 ohms
111 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms
or 278 watts RMS x 2 bridged output at 4 ohms (4-ohm stable in bridged mode)

Thanks.

For running the front speakers you are looking at the RMS rating per channel at 4ohms.
For running the subwoofer you are looking at the bridged RMS rating at 4ohms.

In the example above, the front speakers will receive 111 watts and the subwoofer will receive 278 watts.

which is really decent power, as long as your choice of amp puts out what its rated for.

That was the Infinity amp I posted...I'm guessing its a little overrated. If it was really putting out 111 watts per channel they wouldn't be selling it so cheap.

probably right... but I'm sure its still respectable for this guy's LOW budget system.

probably more than his eventual speakers will be rated for

So you think that the Infinity will push more than I will be able to use? It is the cheapest amp out of the three you posted as well.
The Infinity pushes out a considerable more rated watts then the others (at least 50 watts), not to mention it has a full one year warranty from the manufacturer.

It's probably the best deal...but remember it is factory renewed, which probably means it was B-stock that they repaired to recoup losses.

Don't worry about pushing too much. It is always good to have some overhead. With more power, you are less likely to drive the amp to clipping (which will kill the speakers).
