Is this a decent system (will it all work well together)?

Alright well I think I am going to buy it all either today or tomorrow. Here's what I am buying (taken from cardomain). Let me know if there are any issues.
-JVC KD-G510 MP3 Player
-Kicker KX550.3 Multi-Channel Amp (runs double the amount of wattage that it is rated at "RMS Power @ 4 Ohms" because it is a DUAL 4 ohm amp correct?)
-Pioneer TS-A6870R 3-Way Speaker
-Scosche MA03 Car Stereo Wiring Harness
-Scosche MA1536 Car Stereo Installation Kit
-CarDomain Connector Kit In-Dash Receiver Accessory

Price: $454.29

-Image Dynamics IDQ 12" Dual 4 ohm (eBay)
Price: $75
-Knuconceptz Complete 8 Gauge 4 Channel Amplifier Installation Kit with extra 20 ft of cable
Price: $35.99

Final Price: $565.28

all that will work pretty well, though I still think you could do yourself a big favor by investing a tad bit more and getting some better front speakers.

We already established that thenOOb likes those speakers. He went and listened to a bunch and is satisfied with the Pioneers. No reason to spend more.

To tell you the truth, when I went to listen to some, I couldnt find a very noticeable difference between the models that cost about $25 more and these (probably my virgin speaker ears :)). Then again, there weren't any component speakers there, but those are out of my price range. I think I am going to stick with the Pioneers. Is everything else looking fine?

Thanks.

Everything looks good. Do you plan on installing all this yourself? I know you mentioned that you had a friend who was going to help you with the box. Does he have experience installing car audio gear?

I am actually planning on having my Dad's business associate who knows someone at Myer Emco to install it all. My friend is just going to build the box for the sub.

That head unit sucks balls, how do I know? I have one and the CD crapped out on it after it was six months old, I am having it ripped out on Tue. and getting a new one (don't know what one yet).

very nice, glad to see you finaly getting a system up and running, and one pretty much on budget and much much better then your first thought.... also be sure to re-use the rain guards for your door speakers... they will come right off the stockers and should stick (they are held on by sillicone or something) to your mounting plates.... or new speakers can't remember if you got rounds or ovals.... anyways good luck

If you bought it from an authorized dealer, it comes with a 1 year warranty.

Yup! But I am going to use this as an excuse to replace it. I will get it fixed under warranty and then sell it so some neighborhood kid.

Everything looks good nOOb. The only thing I would change myself is the speakers...but I just dropped $700 on a set of DLS Iridiums so obviously my budget is a little different than yours.

The key thing in the system is the Amp since it is the biggest investment. It will work perfectly with a single 4ohm DVC subwoofer and a set of speakers. You can always upgrade the speakers later if you feel you want a little more quality.

Here's a tip with setting things up. First, read through the manual that comes with the amplifier before connecting anything. Second, you will want to use a high-pass crossover setting for the front speakers at 70-90Hz. And you will want to use a low-pass crossover setting for the subwoofer at 70-90Hz. Sometimes a little overlap sounds good. Basically you don't want the front speakers to get any sub-bass and you only want the subwoofer playing what the front speakers can't play.

Actually, I just took a look at the manual for the KX550.3 on Kicker's site. They recommend using 4ga power cable. So I would suggest changing the amp wiring kit to the following one:

Its the same as the first one I recommended except it comes with 4ga power cable.
