beware of tigerdirect.ca though. We have done a lot of business with them and there are some things you should know.
1. Whatever your invoice says, it's not what your Visa will actually be charged. I have brought this to their attention on several occasions and they do nothing. So I ordered something and my invoice said it costs 100.00. Well, they'll charge the Visa 106.00. I have yet to have a decent reason as to why. Visa charges? Changes in US-CA $$$??? Who knows, but I will not place a large order through them because it is a mystery as to how much it will really cost. I don't order anything from Tiger direct for myself, and only if I can't get it somewhere else.
2. Everything your order from tigerdirect.ca actually comes from the US. This means outrageous shipping costs at times. I had one co worker get charged $35 to get one dvd shipped (xcopy). That's crazy and to make the best of it, the package was opened and it was a used dvd
3. I have had co workers order one thing, and get another. Had one guy order a 200 gig hd. They sent him a radeon 9200. Slight difference, and a lot cheaper. It took near 3 months to get everything fixed up, and they made him pay for everything. Add to that, he sent the video card back at his cost and per their instructions, and they denied reciept for some reason so it came back to him. Had to send it again, they recieved it as the shipping indicated, but they denied it. In the end he was made to buy another drive while still charged for the 1st one, wait for the video card he sent back to be found before getting refunded for it, and the 1st drive ordered, and he paid for shipping 3-4 times. That's just one example, I have ooodles.
4. Expect your things to be really badly packed. It's like the guys in the US packing them don't realize just how far these orders have to go. I have had hard drives put in larger boxes, with no packaging material inside so their just left loose to flop around. Obviously I won't except things like that.
order from ncix and pricematch with pccanada.com, canadacomputers.com, and tigerdirect.ca. NCIX is the best store I have ever dealt with over the years and their shipping is really quick and cheap. I just got a Antec p160 case, nec 2510 burner, p4 3.0 gig, ram, fans, fan controller bla bla bla bla, it came in a box so big it could barely fit it through the door. It was packaged so well it could probably withstand a war in iraq and it only cost me $35 Canadian from BC to NFLD with shipping insurance. CAn't beat that.
