Just wondering if the is a OEM 6 disk changer that plays MP3 disks. I have an 07 with the sirius module so I did not want to add an after market radio or else the display is wasted.......

Yes there is an OEM Mazda 6 disc MP3/CD Changer available. I have one in my Speed6. You can find it online cheaper than from the dealer. The MSRP is $525. The cheapest I found & where I got mine from is $373 from http://www.waynemazdafactoryparts.com/ The part # is GP9A 79 EGX. I had it installed at my local Mazda dealer & the install only ran me $96. It's only about an hour or so of labor.(rockon)

If I understand right, it also has text capabilities for CD Text, whereas the regular in-dash doesn't.

That is correct! The display can show the song title, album, artist, etc. Just make sure all the information is there on the MP3's properties when you make your MP3 disc. I hate it when a few songs show up no title & just show the track # & time elapsed. Also when creating MP3 discs, you can have several folders & organize your music according to genre, artist, etc. This is definitely worth getting. I hate listening to the radio & commercials!

Yes, so always beware of the file names of stolen, er i mean "shared" (ie: downloaded) music. Always edit the tags, too.

Do I win a prize for stumping the group?!?!!??!

Another Q.......

Does this one fit in the standard radio opening or is it the laptop looking slot loading cd payer?

"laptop looking?" It is a slot-loader. To the best of my knowledge, the 6's head units are all modular and interchangeable, with the partial exception of the Bose systems only being compatible with Bose radios. My radio, for example, is a Bose non-MP3 unit. It has the ability to add cassette, or sirius/ipod from the factory. If I wanted, I could pull the radio out and swap in a Bose MP3 head unit. And yes, it's an all-internal, slot-loading 6-disc CD changer. Does that help?
