When I park on a narrow road, I nearly always retract the mirrors. On a couple of occasions when I didn't bother to, I returned to my car the next day to find that the driver's door mirror (the one sticking out into the traffic) was retracted but the passenger door mirror, by the pavement, was not.
I've checked, there are no scratches or dents on the mirror casing so it cannot have been knocked by a passing car. I can only think that although the ignition was off and the car was locked up, the mirror automatically retracted itself when a vehicle passed by. The car is this year's model (virtually new) and I've looked in the manual but can find no mention of any automatic mirror retraction.
I am totally mystified. Have I got an option that never made it into the manual or should I be worrying about passers-by playing with my mirrors?
