yeah but its going to be ugly that way compared to the ones that slide in. plus, i assume, the wind noise is going to be extreme.

I know on my sister's old 00 Eclipse GT it wasn't noisy at all

also not noisy on an 04 Tiburon GT

and a 95 MX-6

Thing is.. they are all coupes.. at least on the MX-6 when the moonroof opened all the way it actually tilted down and sorta fit the curve of the back window.. I should find a pic it's hard to describe. Either way, I think it would end up being loud on a sedan.

i guess for some it would be ugly, but to me, even if i could get one that went inside i would still opt for the one outside, i think it's super hott... and the noise, trust me my exhaust is way louder than the wind noise it would create.

so with the uglyness and wind noise aside, would it actually be a possibility to install one of those unroofs without killing the roof crossbeam?

they may be nice but they have to cut out a major structual support beam to put them in there. have you ever seen a msp with a sunroof in an accident? the roof bends like its just sheet metal and glass which is what it is basically once you cut that out. mazda didnt put one in our cars stock for a reason: structual rigidity. the wrx doesnt have one for the same reason. think about that before you put one in.

when I bought mine brand new, I asked if the dealership would install a sun/moon roof for me, and they absolutley refused because of the impact cutting the support would do...no shht the manager said to me, "if you won't buy this from me unless I put a sunroof in it, then find another dealership who will." and rattled off nearby mazda dealerships with speeds. needless to say I took that pretty seriously, maybe it was bs, but hey, I bought the car from him and gave up the sunroof dream..

I hear people talk about how it's ok on the P5 because of the roof rack cross bars (which I am daring and have removed haha) but what about the Protege ES/LX/DX? Were they not available with a moonroof?

No sunroof but I was seriously contemplating on getting one. If I did, I may not have walked away from this.

oh dang dude... ur poor baby **REALLY** ouch i do not know what i would do if i busted my car like that... i would cry i love my car

i still really wanna know if my idea about the sunroof that comes out of the roof and slides back would work without cutting the support beam. this would provide an answer for everyone with speeds that wants a sunroof and to still keep the support beam. myself included. (direct) PLEASE! someone give me something i can work with so i can go look for a sunroof/moonroof.

You have to take in consideration as to what size the sunroof is going to be, how far from the windshield will it be placed and how close will it come to the B-pillars. If I remember correctly, the beam is almost directly above the B-pillars. I just can't remember if it is a little forward or a little back of it.
