Is the MSP Cursed

Ok sorry guys that I have to post about this but in the last like 3 weeks or basically since the MSP came out I have heard of like 10-15 of them being either totaled or in some type of accident. Not saying it is driver and not saying it is car cause every situation is different. Just finding it weird that everyone waits for so long to get them and once they do they are all getting in accidents. Ok give me a minute to put flame suit on.

Not crused just over hyped in its abilities and attuitudes of some people who own it.

This tends to happen with alot of newly released car, unfortunely.

*Steals your flame suit*

Yeah i've noticed it too....Insurance companies are going to have a field day raising the rates on these cars. I'm sure in about a year, the rates will be even more rediculous for them, even if you've never been in an accident before.

i waited almost a whole year for mine. i didnt want to end up in a ******* ditch upside down. thats why they are called accidents, not "i did it on purpose".
:'(

and ive had it for a little more than 3 months, so its not like i got it and ****** it up the day i got it.

whatever.

Cursed??!! Oh yes. It has cursed me with a BIG GRIN since Jan 10th when I took delivery of mine!

I LOVE MY MAZDASPEED!!!!!!

But seriously; Being the car that the MAZDASPEED is, makes it almost too inviting to push the driver, or perhaps even the car over the limit; and I am also refering to the limit of sensibility. It's a car that is way to easy to have fun with.

Now; with that said, I'm not necessarily eluding to the incidents that have already happened to our fellow members - which really sucks!! We must all learn from this, and be more aware and careful. I know myself; I have slowed it done a bit.

AGR is right

These cars are great....I'm sorry, I don't agree with the "over-hyped" statement though.

Most of the problem is that people are getting these cars, and not being mature about it. EXACT same thing happened with the MP3, first few months I was here, we just kept score of how many mp3's were totaled. Just because you own an extremely good handling car, doesn't mean you know how to drive it. these cars are so easy to drive fast, sometimes you just don't realize just how fast your going. When I had my civic, there were corners around here I wouldn't take going faster then 60. Now in the mp3, I take them with ease daily at almost 80-90. But, things happen so much faster at that speed that if your not ready, prepared, or skilled enough to correct the car from skidding, flipping or whatever, your screwed. Not the cars fault.

the other thing is, it's still cold out in places. Some people get all excited, spring fever and everything, see the snow off the roads, and slap the Racing harts on right away, perhaps prematurely . Next time it's cold out, you get some ice, maybe even some small snow, and that's all it takes for this car to become a hazard with those tires....then BANG, car's dead.

I'm excited about spring too, and I'm dying to put the RH's on...but I'm holding off. There's still a lot of snow, there's black ice everynight, and there sand and dirt everywhere, and these Z rated tires don't like any of that.

be careful guys. Most accidents aren't "accidents". It's carelessness on the drivers behalf.

to those that have hurt the mp3's/msp's.....man I'm sooooo sorry to hear it. Good luck

yes all you guys need to calm down or you are going to drive our insurance rates up even more :D

Hey wasn't trying to insult anybody with this just hought it was interesting that so many on the boards here were wrecked.

Dexter, I feel for you man. Definately wasn't trying to add insult to injury. Hey the worst things happen to the best people. and you are right an accident is an accident in otherwards not always in your control. Good luck with your car.

Camaros have the highest fatal accident rate in the US, and Acura Integras were the number one stolen vehicle during their production run, even moreso than the Toyota Camry, and there are more Camrys on the roads. This doesn't exactly mean that when you drive a Camaro you're wishing death upon yourself, etc. Nor does it say that owning an Integra means you're going to one day come out and find it up on cinder blocks.

I bet that hundreds of generic family sedans crash each day. There are probably 2000 ford tauruses (tauri?) on the roads in this state alone. There aren't even that many MSPs on the road in the whole country. I guess as a matter of ratios, is what I'm arguing.

Please tell me I'm making sense here - I have the flu.

hey man...sorry if it seemed like i got testy...i dont really mean it...its just i feel like crap enough already and all ...no hard feelings to ya man... :)

In all honesty I just think it's really easy to drive this car HARD. It begs to be slung into corners and I can't help but come close to WOT after stops. Like Newf said this time of year is particularly dangerous considering there is alot of dirt on the roads even after they dry, the Z rated tires are not good on loose sand on the roadway or anything wet. The MSP is also a car that attracts young buyers, which in no offense to anyone, increases the likelyhood of accidents (that's just statistics talking). I feel horrible for those of us that have wounded their MSP's and am glad to see nobody has been seriously injured. Let's just hope that the stories of those who have wrecked serve as a big fat warning and make everyone a little more cautious.

Curse? Maybe

(scratch)

no, im a prick who knows how to drive and control a high powered car... for ***** sake these cars are just proteges with a lil extra power, i would never want to see any of you on the road with a turbo'd rear wheel drive car

go cry in a corner or something

My first car was a 69 Chevelle with a 470HP stroker motor in it.
Man that car could get your attention. Ovesteer is an understatment. If you put sticky mickys on it you could do 11.80's not bad for a heavy car. It would pull like hell to redline and made some great noise through the stainless Borla exhuast.
No cats, no emmisions just pure headers to Borla.
Alas 4 months after I got it a tard ran a redlight @ 70mph and broadsided me. Totaled my car. I miss 500ftlb of torque.
Easy on the MSP though it's still a good ride...and with 215 at the wheels it will be even more fun.

dunno about you guys but.

I dunno about you guys but with my insurance company it passed as a regular protege, they even took the vin and did a search came up at regular protege ;) so i doubt rates will jump for me unless alot of regular protege's start having alot of accidents i think im safe for awhile. 2ndly, if you read most of the stories of how the msp's got wrecked ur right it wasnt driver carlessness, it was other ppl. you gotta keep a eye on everyone else thats the problem not neccessarily bad driving its other drivers u have to watch out for, like one was wrecked they were following this car with blackouts on the back and didn't realize the car had stopped becuz the blackouts were to dark. And the one that flipped over, just took it going a lil to fast and lost controll. and ur exactly right it thats why ther called accidents. but i do see some that make you wonder if the driver was pushing the cars limits. This is also a factor.
