Someone asked if my car was a Subaru. It looks nothing like a Subaru to me and has a decent sized Mazda emblem on the front grill. Has your car been mistaken for another auto maker?

YESSSS!!!YES!!YES...I always get people asking me if my car is a freaking WRX!! and I say "how can you mistake my car for a WRX with highly visible mazda emblems on front and back of the car". But the most noticeable things are, our cars don't have a hood scoop, tail lights and head lights are completely different and most importantly, YOU CAN'T MISTAKE THE SOUND OF A BOXER ENGINE COMPARED TO OUR ENGINES!! But at least that is better than some others that have mistaken my car for a Honda...at McDonald's drive thru: got VTEC? me: uuh no I GOT BOOST!! AND BY THE WAY, THIS ISN'T A HONDA, IT'S A MAZDA. I really hate that

I got Evo a couple times and subaru a lot. I was even at an auto x event and they announced my car as an Evo lol!

One day i was at the mazda dealer looking for info on the flash and the guy almost laughing said but your car is a mitsu (hand)

you don't have an evo spoiler do you? If not, that's funny. I could see if you had the spoiler and maybe an evo style CF hood

I've heard this a lot. Confusing WRXs with MSPs...

Meh... I can see similarities (upper/lower grilles, body lines [belt line, side molding line, fender flares], foglights, they're both 4 door sport compacts). But they are easy to tell apart even debadged:

Now I've had my MS3 called a GTI and a WRX...

I see it a bit between the MS3 and WRX in the profile:

the big three seems to be civic, wrx, and evo. And all of the noobs and ricers know what civics are from experience. So if its a nice looking compact and its not a civic it must be one of the other 2.

yeah, just wait for the laser blue guys to see this... they'll be all over it.

I've never personally had my car confused with anything, apparently all the people I know are smart enough to say "What is that" instead of pretending they know. being wingless probably helps with this issue too. lol

at least he acknoweledged your car existed.....i went there and the guy said theres no such thing as a msp....(bicker)

all the ******* time! my friends like to play on it too and call it a subie to razz me. Sadly, the plate "NOTAWRX" is already taken here in cali :(

I haven't been mistaken for anything yet (that I know of), but I've had a few guys in civics and yell out something like "nice car!" at me in traffic. I can't imagine they know exactly what it is...but maybe.

Someone pointed out that the Accent and Protege look similar. I noticied that the rear/side profiles look very similar shortly after I bought my MSP. It's depressing looking this close to one of the cheapest (both in quality and price) models that Hyundai made :(

i am CONSTANTLY getting called a subaru haha, my car is practically the same color and is completely debadged. i had my wheels gold as a joke a few years ago to confuse even more.

I used to get it all the time! Mainly when I first got the car ~3 or so years ago. But not many people say it anymore, funnyest time was when I was going to Philly with my sister and her friends, my sisters ex boyfriends brother was like saying how I have a nice car, ect ect, then we got in my car and started driving to Philly, 1/2 way there he was like "wait this is a Mazda? I thought it was a subi" lol!!!

unfortunately its not a subie...........i wouldnt worry about people mistaking the msp for a subie.the subie is far supperior to the msp so take it as a compliment
