Is the MAZDASPEED badge on the trunk held with adhesive or fasteners?

I asked this because, mine is slightly tilted. I was accepting it, as it was. It isn't really that noticeable. And; then some girl at work brought it to my attention that it was crooked. Noooo; she couldn't compliment the car for the unique car that it is. (chair)

Any ideas? Is this an emblem that can be removed (adjusted) without a lot of headache?

Well then; that pretty much sucks! If they are indeed fastened (with holes in the trunk lid), you would sure as hell think they would all be about the same, since a machine does that. :wtf:

Funny thing; this girl happens to be one of the 2 or 3 best looking girls in our office of some 200 employees. Impress her? Nah! I am happily married 15.5 years. It is funny, that she even noticed the 'slightly' tilted badge. It's higher nearest the fender. When I park, I take up 2-3 places. And; after lunch, I sometimes pull in where the back end is toward the building. Oh well.

I spoke with a dealer a little while ago (the one in Austin, TX that sells the MAZDASPEED trunk badges - (http://www.mazdastuff.com/index.cfm?CategoryID=0), and they said they think they are held on with adhesive from the factory, like the one's they sell. But; I haven't talked to my dealer yet. I will see....

I think that all you have to do is just look under the trunk when its open? if there are no holes than you are in business. in fact i will go look right now.

Well I will tell you this greg you are in luck. The protege embelem is the only of the two that is cliped in. the mazdaspeed embelem has holes behind it but they are not used. I can acctually feel the glue on the badge

Damn!!!! It must be Friday!!!! (thumb) That certainly explains the fact that some are even, and some are slightly tilted.

Now,,,,,I wonder how it will come off? Will it leave a mess, or mess up the paint? Hmmmm. My problem; I'm too much of a perfectionist! I was getting used to it, but now,,,,,,I want to make it perfect. I will have to think on this one.....

check out the badge removal step by step in the How-To section of the board. or heres how i debadge

just get something to gently pry the badge off
the remaining resiude will rub off, and then i use Goo Gone to get the rest off. (it wont mess up your paint dont worry. ive even used some on my black mica to help take the pinstripes off)
do the same on the badge to get it nice and clean. then go out and get some 3M all weather VHB tape (Very High Bond). its double sided, so put on side on the badge, grab a level , make sure its even and there you go.

ive taken off the badge on my friends S4 and also done the front grill badge on the ES too, thats where i used the 3M VHB tape to reattach the emblem(found it at radioshack,home depot), its still holding today, and it been almost 1/2 a year, so i trust the 3M stuff

Thanks Dex! We looked at the emblem over the weekend, and it actually appears that it might be even with that line on the trunk. It might not be tilted at all; it may just be the curvature, the way the trunk is angled.

if you do remove it dont pry anything just get some fishing line and two pencils. wrap the line around two pencils and then slide the line under the badge it will cut throught the glue and it will come off. the pencils are for grip

doing it on a hot day or using a heat gun (carefully, moving it around all the time) to soften up the glus has helped me in the past. Dental floss is the way to go! I used rubbing alcohol on a paper towel to clean up the residual glue afterward - no damage to my wife's Maxima. I want to try it on my 03 Protege next.
