Is the Mazda 2.0 the same as the Ford 2.0?

Actually, my understanding is that the Protege and Escort don't really share any engine parts. The Ford 2.0 and the Mazda 2.0 are completely different. But I really don't know. I just remember reading that on another forum.

If you're asking if the FS-DE (the protege 2.0) is the same as the ztec or w/e you find in a focus is the same, then NO, they are not the same.

all protege engines are all mazda. the mercury tracer and ford escort for certain years shared a BP engine designed by mazda, but that was early/mid 90s. the 1.9 liter in the escort and tracer were all ford. the 2.0 ZETEC and the 2.0 in the ZX2 are all ford. no 3rd generation protege whether it be a 1.8, 2.0, 1.6 or msp uses a ford engine, all mazda design.

the newer focus and mazda3s share components between the engines on the duratec platform but they are not identical car to car.

hi,here in the philippines we have the same engines, your mazda MP3 and MSp have the same engine as my car here.. 2.ol FS-DE but mine is non turbo,in the united states its a mazda MP#,same body, suspension, interirs but differrent front and rear face..

the V6 that mazda uses in the Mazda6 is a ford V6... and the reliability was supposed to be mediocre and not on par with mazda engineering
