Is the 2018 CX-5 engine a Ford?

Ford has not designed a single engine on their own for as long as they were partnered up wth Mazda.
The majority of ford vehicles you see on the road even today have an engine and often even the chassis designed by Mazda.

Don't think there are any parts in the engine bay that say FoMoCo anymore inside Mazdas
I just purchased a 2018 CX-5 and somebody was saying it has a Ford engine and Tranny. So I thought I would come here to confirm it didn't.

Or if it's the Ford Powershift transmission, won't be going anywhere since it won't go into gear or by luck it does, welcome to shuddering at low speeds.

ford and Mazda have been using japanese Aisin transmissions for a long time.
the 3.5L was designed by Mazda. The only thing Ford was responsible for was tuning the engine, and they smartly stuck to what is basically Mazda's ECU tune.
If you actually made a quick google search, you would note that the original Ford Edge is based off the CD3 chassis, which is a Mazda designed chassis, and the newer Edge is based off the CD4 chassis, which is an evolution of that same Chassis.
Ford's Duratec 4 cylinders, duratec 3L v6, 2.0, 2.3, 2.7, 3.5 ecoboost turbo motors are all Mazda design in Ford tune.

The only thing Ford manufactured for that car was the terrible transfer cases, the engine dipstick and some other nonsense. slapping a plastic Ford engine cover onto Mazdas MZI motor does NOT make it a Ford motor, contrary to popular belief.
Reading on a CRV forum, a couple of them still think Ford makes engines for the CX-5....public perception as well.
There is one...a plastic piece which is part of the stock intake system has FoMoCo stamped on it on my 2016 Mazda6. Otherwise the actual engine/tranismission itself is 100% MAZDA made in Hiroshima, Japan.
Oh and if you guys open up your key fob to replace the CR2025 battery chances are it says Mitsubishi inside.

Left over parts they don't know what to do so they used it instead of throwing it out

I owned a 2008 CX9.
That engine was from Ford. Mazda modified the intake manifold and retuned engine.
The NAVI system was from Toyota.
Overall, it s a mix of Toyota/Ford.
Yes, that transfercase from Ford was problematic.
