Is The 2.0 L Really Built For Turbo?

Is The 2.0 L In The Msp Built Internally From Factory To Withhold Over 10 Psi Boost? If Not Than What Is A Safe Boost Level For Every Day Driving And Also Avoiding Detonation.

please turn off your caps lock.

the engine in the mazdaspeed protege is the exact same as every other 2001-2003 protege 2.0 liter. it does not have factory forged internals, same internals as the regular protege.

in my opinion, stock boost is safest. with no mods, i would not go past 9 psi and even with mods that depends on what you have done to it

Performance mod list:

Turbohoses SMIC
Turbohoses Hardpipes (dual bpv/bov setup)
Injen SRI with Turbohoses Ram Air setup
GHL Downpipe with catted midpipe
Greddy Sp2 exhaust
Greddy Profec Spec II EBC
One step colder spark plug
I've been running around 9-9.5psi daily for the past few months and I still don't feel comfortable. If you want to boost without blowing the engine, you should have the supporting mods plus an EMS and maybe a forged engine.

Go ahead. Ask me if I think this motor is built for anything.... even driving down the street. lol Check out the thread I just posted titled "Blown Motor." Not knocking the MSP.... just the motor's internals.

Boo Crappy FSDE Internals!!!!!
Hoo-ray forged!!!!

I run between 10 and 15 psi. 10 on the street and 15 at the track and thats not including boost spike. I've been doin ths for about 2 years now with no problems. I think it's a pretty decent engine just some people have bad luck I guess

Even then NO. Our motors don't really respond that well to NA mods unless you have tuning capabilities and a lot of money.

just leave the msp alone till you read the faqs and feel comfortable with the knowledge you attain...stock the car is fun to drive if it wasnt why did you buy it in the first place

Hey Faggot, If you have no good feedback than don't reply to my thread beeatch

He just said NO because this topic has been beat to death. The second you turn up the boost you run the risk of breaking something. Sugestions are getting FMIC/ upgraded SMIC, exhaust, atleast j-pipe back, some type of EMS, motor mounts, and you should be able to run between 9-10psi.

if you think you can just sign up to a board and expect that you "deserve" something handed to you on a silver platter, like you are some big shot, you are wrong. enjoy it at home with mommy and daddy while that lasts... oh and the name calling is for the school yard kid

that's "positive feedback" for you

THe question is when will your luck run out? Tick Tock. I hope it doesn't.

ure talking about a motor that was not ever suppose to handle boost, but with a safe tune, anything can take boost to a certain level. becareful and make sure to become friends with ure closest mazda dealer!!!

buy a unichip intake and exhaust and you have a true bolt in 200whp car boosting 14psi spike safely on stock internals. doesnt get much easier than that aside from mazda dealers selling the parts instead of having to buy online. the 2.0l FS aint that bad. there is a saying that relates to this "sometimes the problem is between the chair and the keyboard"

Dont start touching, tweaking, or tuning things until you do LOTS of research. There's tons of great info and advice if you search...but seriously theres no reason to call someone a "faggot" for asking you to search...more duplicated or useless threads make it harder to find good and useful info. Best of luck with the searches
