Ok so I have the Obx 4-to-1 header on my LX. I have a serious leak betweek the header and mid pipe flange. it sounds HORRIBLE. no fix i've tried has solved the problem. i was thinking it was an out of line midpipe, but if that was the case the downpipe from the stock Cat would have been misaligned too. my mechanic buddy said it is probably the header downpipe is bent wrong. If t hat is the case how do i get a new header, because i am sick of dealing with this. i am about to go back stock and just gutting out the cat.

wow, sorry to hear that you are having so much problems with your header....i don't know much about cars so i don't think i can help you out...but i just thought i should drop by and leave a comment.....didn't you say you were going to get a seal or something like that to stop the leak? i remember in another thread that you said something like that.....IMO i don't think its the header downpipe that is bent wrong....well i have the obx header as well and does not have any leak....anyways, maybe the reason i don't have any leak is cause i am running with my stock exhaust system...k i'll stop...cause i don't think i know what i am talking about

i bought the exhaust putty to make a seal...it didnt work--it blew out 2days later. im running stock exhaust too. on the bottom it is a good fit but the top of the flange there is good sized gap. i went to get a gasket from the parts store and they dont carry them,. and i cant find a thick one anywehre either

isn't there a piece you can use from the stock header....stock header gasket or whatever? hehe...i really suck at this....

I'm curious about OBX too. I was thinking about getting my downpipes and manifold along with some other stuff from.

yeah, you have to have that piece. I took mine out from the stock header and put it on the new one, no leaks...

ohhhhhhhhhhhh i never even thought about that part. is it easy to come off or where can i get a new one? dealership?

I don't know if a local parts store will have one, but the dealer should.

it is easy to come off, I used a flat-head screwdriver and it came of.

i went to the mazda dealer. it was $20. Its installed. car sounds and runs great! thanks for the help fellas.

nice, you sound impatient like I am haha.

if you know the sound my car was making with that leak you would know exatcally why i was rushing there to get the part. it was the bad kind of loud. people were like what the hell is that crap, not wow what a sweet exhaust system.

right now its not making that sound anymore? not even alittle? did the header make give any gain for you?

it sounds great now...not even a little leak. yes i am seeing huge gains. the leak was killing the backpressure. my buddy was riding with me and he even commented on how much better it is. all i need now is a ful cat-back exhaust and i'll be movin!

Watch out about the cat back exhaust. I have the OBX header and the Bosal Catback exhaust and I am having a headache. the header's welding keeps breaking at the top of the downpipe and the bottom of the header. it's because the engine torque when you take off. I have a flex pipe put in but still I am having header problems/exhaust leaks. The header and the Cat back exhaust doesn't meet so I had to fab up the piece between it. The fab piece has the flex pipe and the high flow cat. I am getting about 20-22 mpg. I think it's because of the diameter of the piping changing to 2.25 from the engine all the way back. I am still thinking that it's because I am not getting back pressure from the leak in the header or the flex pipe opening up too much.

I love my OBX, its hasnt given me any problems over the last 2 years.....Very good mod the money
