Is my protege 5 specially tuned?

The other 3 comes from the lack of VTCS, the axleback doesn't do anything except sound cool.

hahaha...that's my old p5!

i switched the valvecovers between the p5 and mp3 to keep the 1.8L coils...

it doesn't have an mp3 ecu either.

all that's on it is the intake, racing mazda header, test pipe, magnaflow exhaust, kartboy shifter bushings, kartboy exhaust hangers, unorthodox racing flywheel and act street performance clutch.

no, it did, but i swapped that over to my mp3...which is why he has the mp3's engine cover.

he also has sedan headlights.

here's the current engine bay on the mp3

small world indeed. I've just recently started looking into this car and i appreciate all the help from everyone. The only add on i've done to the car is a short shifter. Throws felt a bit long. As for topher i would love to add you as a buddy if thats ok by you. The mp3 cover i took it off last night. its just not my style to act like something is something other than what it really is. As for the whole srt-4 thing, i really did stay with him like i said i did but apparently he got a bad launch. We tried again tonight and he stayed ahead of me off launch too. basically like i did to him except reversed and then when third gear came he just took off entirely. I hate the fact that i seem newbish. I would just like to know everything i can about my car and what things i should do to it to keep making it better than what it is. One more thing. what exactly is a 2.0 to 1.8 coil conversion?

could just be a naturally aspirated beast that has a lot of high compression internals and parts to lighten the drivetrain.

isnt the mazda racing header pretty rare? you sold the with it on???

yeah, i didn't feel like swapping it out with the obx i have on the mp3...i regret it every day.

pick up a used mazdaspeed/mp3 racing beat rear sway. you already have the subframe installed...so all you need is the sway, bushings, endlinks and brackets that hold the bushings in.

you may want to upgrade the struts first.

Topher,
Do you think it is worth looking for a Mazda 626 4-2-1 header and get a custom cat pipe (like your mazda header)

$170 shipped + plus custom piping for cat

or OBX header?

$240 shipped from protege garage?

I realize the old EGR bung would need to be welded shut, and a new EGR bung weld on. Plus I would need a custom mid pipe. So yes, it will cost more than the ODX, but I was wondering if it worth the extra effort since you have experienced both types of headers. I see that this header is going to move the main cat down a bit and may make it just a cat with ends on it. :)
