Where the hell is the frame in this car? I think I might've bent it, but I'm not sure.

Look at these pics and tell me if my car is ****** and there is frame damage.
I will be calling the insurance company but I want to get a word from the peeps here that might've had experience with frames bending.

This is what you're looking at: The car ran over a curb divider and the side of the car rode on the curb, first cracking my bumper, going over with the front driver's wheel, and then landing on the side right under the driver's door, scraping along the bottom left side under the skirt (where you jack the car up), here are the pics:

it looks fine. You might have damaged suspension components though if you went over the curb pretty hard. A proper alignment reading from any shop could confirm it. Also could have bent a wheel.

I checked my suspension today and it all looks fine. Nothing is bent or broken, just tons of bent and shredded panels (wheel well cover was ripped off and cracked) that I had a time putting back together since it was just ripped off from the clips and screws holding it.
I think the wheel might be lightly bent, even though it looks fine looking at it. I do have a small bubble on the tire that developed where it hit. I rotated my wheels so I can feel how the back one feels up front. I'm probably going to have to get it realigned (got it done last week, yay!)

I'd take it to a shop you trust and ask to have them take a look at it. make sure it didn't puncture through the floor. make sure to really make sure the suspension is fine cause the last thing you need while driving down the highway is for a struttower to blow through or a wheel falling off.

ps. you weren't driving a truck, stop trying to jump curbs:D

You can measure the car and look at the alignment of body panels and see if it has been tweeked.

From the look of it you just bent the pinch weld.

I would still get the alignment checked.

Proteges are unibody cars. No actual frame to speak of. Typically when you hear of "frame damage" these days, it's just an easy way of saying the unibody structure is terribly smashed, and while the smashed parts could possibly be straightend or cut out and replaced, the repair would cost more than the car.

You've crushed your pinch weld. That's not good, but it's not going to be the end of the car by itself. I'd still take it to a body shop and have them check it out. Good ones will measure certain points on the car to make sure the structure of the car is still correctly aligned. I don't know what you would be charged for this initial evaluation, though.

Your pinch weld can be straightened out and sleeved to reinforce it for relatively cheap... you could even straighten it yourself. Thats nothing for damage. I had a lifted cherokee, which is also unibody, and saw many other guys with lifted cherokees smash their pinchwelds offroad horribly, and ended up pulling and straightening them out, and just sleeving them and there were no overall negative effects on the vehicle.

the lip under the side skirt is calle dthe pinch weld and its nothing major as a matter of fact tht will get bent i do time cuz most people jack there cars up from tht spot beacuse its a pretty strong point but nutn major doug

Aight folks, thanks for the reassuring words... I was ready to start looking in the FS forum for cars. (thumb)

...oh, man... bent and shredded panels everywhere (bang)
