Is it worth it?

Hello everyone, I'm kinda new so bear with me. As for now i will be purchasing a speed3 and have some ? I can go two different ways

1. I can buy a Cpe intake, downpipe, and exhaust, and maybe a IC
2. I can buy a turbo upgrade keep the stock ECU and maybe down the road get a better IC and ECU

From what i hear the fuel system cant handle past 312whp.....so is it worth getting the upgrade or should i get 1. and see good gains....im wondering what will give me more power but still be reliable hence #2

Thank you all and from what i read you all are very helpful!

That's very ambitious of you right off the bat. #1 makes perfect sense as that's what most people on this board are doing. #2 is probably a lot more complicated than it sounds... as a turbo swap without other tuning options doesn't make a whole lot of sense. #1 + ECU tuning will probably give you close to the max power that the stock turbo and fuel system can safely handle.

No one has tried #2 (that's posted) Alot want to. You can be the first!!

You'll see quite a few with have 2-3 of the 4 mods you mentioned in #1. Still a lot of tire kickers on mods or people waiting on money.

lol on the no traction...I know what you mean. I try so hard not to burn my rubber when launching. Therefore I don't pop the clutch.

just get the intake exhaust and the ic upgrade....later on after the companies trial and error some things for tunes and turbo upgrades u can spend money on something reliable that works

gotcha thanks a lot now from what i am reading the cp-e products are getting the most gains. So CAI, full exhaust, and hopefully a FMIC that way i wont have to buy an ECU that is very hard to work w/. Do the sponsors have better deals than the actual CP-e store? Also 1 more ? can u pass emissions with a high flow cat? Thanks again everyone

we offer discounts to new members on these forums

Wow really? How new do you have to be and how would I go about getting the discount?

Thanks

EDIT: Awww... what happened to the $275 for the MSD Dashhawk? That was just a sale price huh? Any idea when it will go back on sale?

I'm close to #2 but having problems with my guy getting time to have the parts needed fabbed.
Note that the "Kit" that ATP has will only work for the MS6, they are still a month or two out from having a kit for the MS3. So to do a turbo upgrade you're going to have to have a downpipe and an inlet pipe made.
The kit for the MS3 will likely be more expensive than for the MS6, I can't get into why now, you'll have to wait and see.

MSD sent me a nasty letter about the Dashhawk price and told me to jack it back up. PM me on that as well as any discount you'd like.

Wow Capt., you just opened a can of worms here. Thats biased considering most of us I am sure did not know that. Since I am a new member since FEB of 07 and have not purchased anything from your strore before would I qualify?

sorry, i used to advertise it more and have been lax in doing so this past year. give me a shout via PM and we can do something. 800+ posts this year already, you move fast :D

who'd you talk to at ATP about the turbo kit not working with the mazdaspeed 3?

my reps at ATP, parker and george, both have confirmed the kit will bolt up to the ms3 no problems... or so they said?

Emailed the general info address..

Sorry, but the DP and inlet pipe from the Speed6 kit will not fit on the
Speed3. Please wait a couple of months if you can for the Speed3 specific
kit.

Thank you.

thats a big bummer....

although getting the downpipe to fit would be no biggy at all, cause i would get it chopped up anyways for an electric cutout
