I picked up the 2014 Grand Touring last week. My iPod worked fine for a week (slow, but worked). It is a newer generation, maybe 2 years old, 160 GB. Now, it reads the iPod, and then shows an "iPod Error" message. Anyone else get this?

Yeah i had the same issue with a 5th Gen iPod Touch. I tried restoring the iPod 3 times but couldn't get it to connect. I then used the warranty to have apple to replace it and its fine now. My theory is that the USB fried the connection on my lightning connection inside my iPod. I think if you disconnect after turning off the car you need to wait until the usb is fully turned off which usually takes about 15 seconds after the car is off.
I'm seriously pissed off with the lack of support from Mazda on all the issues this head unit has with apple products. If i had known of all these issues i would have just gone with the VW Tiguan i was test driving previous to this CX-5.
