iPhone and SMS messages

I have the "new" BT module installed, verified version of 7.0 on US model 2015 CX-5

Whenever I go to messages, it says "downloading" and then "success", but there are no messages. It's been installed for over a week now and I've deleted the pairing and rebooted the phone after pairing many times, but still no luck.

Anyone have any ideas? Is there a specific order to get the unit to show the messages?

Do you have a passcode on phone? May not work for you but I had to disable mine first to get it work and then re-enabled it after the fact. Try re-pairing phone in an unlocked stated.

Make sure phone notications are on and your email app is closed with the text message app open. If you are driving it will download and offer you the option to play them. It will not allow them to be read visually on the screen while your driving. I have an iPhone 6 for reference, but no reason why a iPhone 5 shouldn't work.

You will most likely need to change some settings on your phone in order to get them to show up and be read while driving. Here's how you do it. Go into settings - Bluetooth - Mazda (or whatever you named your car Bluetooth connection) and select the little blue circle with ! in it - Make sure that the slider for "show notifications" is moved to the right so it's green.

That seems to have solved it - removing the passcode and then getting a message. Have enabled passcode again, so will see if it's going to work with phone lock enabled.

Thank you for this, I had tried so many combinations, but not removing the code seems to have solved the issue.

Good to hear!!!

I spent a couple hours on this at time and finally thought .... "let's try this and it worked"

Almost like some level of encryption is assigned to messages and included with the BT pairing... or at least the phones willingness to pass on the SMS text data

EDIT: Mine hasn't broken again even with passcode... hopefully yours continues to work as well
