Anybody swap out their cabin lighting yet???

If so, what spec. bulb did you use???

I changed out mine with blue LED's (except glove box - don't want to mess anything up trying to take out the glove box to get to the light yet :( ) - Love it!!

For the map lights, glove box, and trunk (sedan), the size is 194 - not sure about the hatch compartment light size

The dome light is 3022 31mm.

I used LED bulbs from autolumination.net

194 6 LED (need to shave down the housings) and 31mm Festoon 4 LED bulbs for the dome and trunk of the hatch.

Badger, that looks tight!!!!! In the pic it looks like you have som elight coming fom the drivers footwell, besides that is all that light coming from the domes?????

This is def. happening in my ride, thanks for the idea/post. Can you elaborate on "shaving down the housings". Is this something a 1st timer can do? I dont wanna make my ride look like crap....lemme know!

PS-any more pics of the trunk, glove, etc...?

PPS-If its not too much trouble can you list the part #'s and what area of the car they go with---thanks!

If you go to autolumination.com just look up their festoon bulbs and 194 bulbs. 31 mm for dome is what we need.

the 6 LED needed a shave of the housing because it is so large. I took a dremel tool (only good way to do it) and ground down the plastic till it was less than a mm thick all the way around. only THEN was the bulb able to fit into the maplight housing.

I will be getting pictures of the setup with them in there today probably, I will make sure to post them here: http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=93218

Appreciate the help, and Just to be clear...

the 31mm for the dome is the light in the middle of the ceiling just behind the 2 front seats right??

and the 6led are for the map lights which are the ones up front right by the rear view mirror right???

PS-can you get a smaller size for the map lights so that they fit??? I have a dremel-was it really difficult?

1. Yes, the 31mm for the dome is the light that illuminates the rear seats. (The manual shows you how to replace all these bulbs)

2. Correct. 194 style bulbs are what you need.

Answer to p.s. 6LED are big and it isn't hard, just have to be patient and careful. But, you can use 4 LED, 5 LED Matrix, Single LED Opaque or Focused w/o having to modify them at all. I don't know how well those are light up, but I would imagine they are still pretty bright.

great info. I just ordered them.
I went w/ the 5LED just so I can get the brightest w/out the alterations. Appreciate the info.
Will hopefully post pics soon

the 5 LEDs are nice, give out a lot of even light.

If you can, don't push them all the way in. If they go all the way in the light housing will sort of cut off the side LEDs a little bit, if I remember correctly.

I just bought the 5-led bulbs from autolumination, and it doesnt fit well. the whole bulb is not sticking out and is being blocked by the housing. I may have to shave the housing for this too.

However, it is not nearly as bright as the stock lighting. even if the full light were to show, it doesnt seem that bright at all. badger how is yours so bright?

i got the amber lighting, and when i turn it on, i get this slight amber haze in my cabin. i'm thinking i bought the wrong bulbs and maybe the non-led ones are more brighter. (dunno)

also, the 31mm, dome bulb doesnt work in my dome lighting. damn, it flickered on once, and after that no go. not sure why it doesnt work either. arrrgh

i tried it in the trunk and it works there, but not nearly as bright as the stock light either. i'll try to get pics.

I'lll tell you 2 things that may help....1-what Biker said is on the money...I installed the same blue LEDS as biker--but 5LED not 6, they fit perfect...but I did notice a pretty decent diff when I took his advice and didnt put the bulb all the way in....

#2-after I did that my cabin was well lit( as well as it could be w/ Blue bulbs), but still dimmer than the stock...these arent for reading maps they are for show...But 1 things for sure, the LED are much brighter than the normal colored bulbs...I had non-Leds in my prelude and you couldnt see your hand in front of your face...and the color was pale....so these have muvh richer color, and are better to see in than normal ones....

I'm doing the 2 bulbs right above the rear license plate this weekend....for those interested I THINK they are the same size as the map lights..so I ordered 5LEDS's as well.....for now dont order them, b/c I may be wrong on the size...., and BTW does anyone want to start a pool to see how long it'll take the po-po to stop me???? damn them!

these bulbs are Polarg 194 Amber Bulbs. These are actually pretty well-lit. The 5-LED just didn't have any output for me. How did you fit the 5-LED in the housing without any adjustment? The side of the bulbs were sticking out and I couldn't get it to fit the housing. I actualyl tried to not stick the bulb all the way in the adaptor, so i could get as much output reflecting off the housing, but it just wasn't working. Also, my dome lights i'm sending back to autolumination.com, as I think they are defective. they told me it could be a problem in the soldering which is why i'm not getting a good connection. in any case, i went out and bought a set of the Polargs and am happy with them so far. i saw a couple of LED's on display, and from what i saw, it's the cluster of LEDS that are bright. cluster of 6 or so. The 4-LED ones aren't that bright imo. i got the 4-LED festoon dome light to light up, and it wasn't that bright. maybe it was my bulb, which is why i'm sending it back for a replacement. i can tell you that the customer service at autolumination.com is pretty top-notch though. they've been very friendly and accomodating. hopefully the new bulbs i get back will be good.

we'll see..

just installed the 5led blue for my map lights and a 4 led for my dome. they look great cant wait to see it at night.
