Interior Cargo Cover Questions

:
Mazda 5
Hello everyone.

I am contemplating the purchase of an accessory cargo cover (my wife is evidently embarrassed that someone might find out that we buy toilet paper), and have some questions for anyone who might have one.

From the photos, I gather that the cover snaps into one of two pair of pockets on the sides of the load space, and that the portion of the cover forward of the mechanism attaches to the middle row seats. How does that work? Velcro or elastic around the headrest stanchions?

We use the 3rd row seats often. Is there a place to stow the cargo cover in the car when an unforeseen use of the 3rd row seats occurs?

Thanks in advance for your comments,

Spalding

There is already a topic on this but I think the conensus agrees that you should just tint the windows and then as an added measure throw a blanket on top. My 5 has tinted windows and you can hardly see anything in there.

The item in question.

There is a C shaped plastic clip attached to a strap that is attached to either side of the split cargo cover panel. This C shaped clip just snaps on to one of the head rest supports.

In regards to the 3rd row/ cargo storage option, it is a pain in the butt, and for this reason, the cover spends 90% of it's time in the garage. ( Glad I bought it used!)

I also tinted the windows, and it has made living with the marginal A/C output a little easier in those summer months. There is a lot of glass on this wagon.

It depends on your needs.
I actually leave the cargo cover in place almost 90% of the time. Unless you need the 3rd row all the time, or your cargo goes up to the roof, I find it comes in handy to cover up what you have stored back there.

I agree, it's a tradeoff but IMO, I am very glad I got it.

I use it 50% of the time and in the event I need ito use the 3rd row I just keep it in the front of the second row seats.

Tinted Windows!

I've got tinted windows on my 5. You can barely see back there!

Thanks for posting those photos. I love the look of the tinted windows. My wife, unfortunately, does not. Maybe when summer comes and the temperature in the car gets a little toasty she'll see the light, so to speak . . .
