interior A/C Lights

the bulbs that go into the dimmer and fog light switch are little itty bitty bulbs, smallest i've ever seen.

i have two UV LED bulbs for my map lights but they are only black light worthy at ~2 inches.
other than that i have a nice 4 White LED Festoon for the dome, doesn't light much but adds a nice tone.

Any of you guys with MSP's happen to notice what bulb is required/how difficult it would be to replace the lights behind the gauge cluster's turn signal indicators? Is this a bulb with a green film on the gauge cluster or is the bulb itself green?
Thanks.

ok i just put all the leds in... gauges, hvac, key hole, dome light and maps... i am happy with everything but the gauges... i put 2 of these

and 2 of these

but now the guages light up dimmer then my stock red bulbs... whats up with that??? what did i do wrong???

the blue one you pictured above is a single led bulb, to get any kind of illumination from led bulbs in the 194 size you have to use the 6led bulb, there are literally 1 bulb with 6 leds on the top.

I have 2 194 and 1 74 leds in my gauges but I also have gauge overlays now with a blue reverse indiglo, just makes em more blue.

Ill be doing the HVAC controls tomorrow with the 4 or 5 #74 blues I have left, they are the ones u pictured above.

In my reading lights I have 2 eurolite xenon 194's and they are bright as hell, light up the whole damn car with a bright clear/clean white light, i love em and so dont use the dome light right now at all.

in my corner lights on the outside of my car I have 194 6led white bulbs and they look great. good light output in a unidirectional manner, like when I park next to my moms white 6 i can almost see the circle of white/blue light from the bulb through the eclipse lens.

so is the gauge cluster lit up with different colored bulbs, or are the numbers painted different colors? Could I just get white bulbs and paint the gauge cluster with that translucent paint stuff?

I think that the translucent film that is the numbers and other markings on the gauges has an amber hint to it itself, which means if you use white, red or orange bulbs it will always be slightly amber to red. Using blue bulbs you need the 6led 194's and a bunch of #74 leds.

So no, i dont think you can spray em. maybe cut out the film where the letters are but thats an irriversable process and something I wouldnt do unless I had an extra set of stock gauge faces.

i'm not possitive about the amber gauges, but i have an LX cluster and it's clear but in certain areas it has some green.

they use a silver backdrop, so they may also have a necessary red lining. Hopefully not though. i would have bought an amber cluster but they wanted 200 for it and the mileage was unkown.

I put the T13-B6 bulb, 194 style in my gauge cluster and I couldn't get them to come on @ all. I spun them around in all possible configurations but still nothing. My 74's came on fine, but no dice on the 194's.

Am I doing something wrong? or is it possible that the bulbs are defective (anyway to test them? maybe try in the map lights?) Also, is this even worth the trouble as its been stated that there will always be an amber hue to the gauges even with blue led's installed? Personally, I just wanted to try it to find out what it looked like, but no luck. Has anyone with red gauges successfully done this by only changing the color of the bulbs? Any pics?
So, I switched my turn signals out and now have blue instead of green. At least something worked out.

you can test them with a 9v battery and a wire.

i'm looking into a way that the red can be removed but i know the odo lcd is pretty much surrounded by colored plastic.

any pics of your blue turn signals, and how about your keyhole?

no digi-cam for pics, but the blue signals do look nice with the gauges red, pretty much the opposite of the blue gauges with red turn signals someone has on here.

I'll have to try the 9v test tonight...thanks

Haven't attempted the keyhole as I've never looked @ the how-to on it. I attempted the gauges after I realized how easy they were to take apart when I installed my DaveB rings.

i haven't finished it sorry,
once you open the steering column 2-screws, you can easily see the bulb in it's holder.
