when you get towards the higher rpms, you can actually hear the air getting sucked through the intake...

thats probably all it is, mine does that too, i dont mind...

interesting...

is it AEM?
check and make sure all the hoses are on and the clamps tight.

take a picture of it and your engine bay when its actually light out...
that might help us help you more.

I notice when I pop the hood and the engine is running, I can hear the intake hissing. Perfectly normal...

I sit in the drive way and rev the engine and imagine I have Vtec. I gun it, it goes whooooosh hisssss whoooosh hissss vroooommmmm. It is all about the par baby!

but punctuation isnt any fun andrew its not any fun if its easy to read your posts because they follow a logical flow complete with pauses in the appropriate places dont you agree

Yeah it's perfectly fine. Your engine does breath and that's what you're hearing. With each cylinder acting like a syringe sucking and spitting air it'll whistle and hiss with a free flowing system. Stock intakes have all sorts of resonators and baffles to counter the hissing which is why you never heard it before. A free flowing system (intake) maximizes flow with no regard for comfort and noise control.
