Intake question!!!

Bought a used intake to go ahead and to the mod to it and clean it up real good so all I have to do is unbilt old and bolt on new. I removed the VTCS and notice the other. Can't remember the lettering but I believe I read somewhere that those need to be kept. But what I dint understand is that it just opens the intake to an empty cavity in the lower intake. Just wondering how this helps with anything.

Will definitely keep them then. Just wondering how it works because they just open up empty space in the manifold.

To put it in simple terms, It changes the runner length. Longer runner normally give better low end torque but restrict the top end power. Having the flaps is like having two manifolds in one.

Those open up @ 5k rpm and reroute intake air for high end performance and are shut to enhance low rpm performance as has been stated...........keep the VICS, just red loctite the butterfly screws if you haven't. Those are the ones that came loose on some cars and there was recall for that back in the day. 03 VIN range.

Will definitely do that. Thanks guys. Y'all don't by chance have a 2.0 head off and can make a template so I can port the intake? Figured I'd ask. It would be easier to make a template with the head off. But mines on...lol
