do i have to have a air fuel controller to install the 626 intake manifoild? I tryed to install the intake manifoild but after i installed it the car would rev up to 6rpm then just about die then rev way up aging. i had all the vac line on. so was just wondering if any one had the same problem.

No you do not have to have a air fuel controller to run the 626 intake mani. Where did you get the intake from? Did you plug those two sensor things back in?

It would rev up to 6000 RPM??? lol please correct the post and please explain more in detail.

yes it would rev up to 6000rpm then drop back down to where it all most died then rev back up aging. I got the intake manfoild from protege garage, with a new gasket and egr tube. Yes i did plug the green and white connection back in i called ken to make sure what to do with those. I put the old manfoil back on and the car runs fines now

Interesting. Well I've got no idea and say call Ken back as he knows way more than I do. That is who i got mine from and he was very helpful.

ya I would say just reinstall it, and make sure you actually got all the vac lines back, and the BB line also, and the seals are tight with the gasket.. and the plugs are plugs are plugged into the right ones, and they have vac lines connecting to each other like it shows in my pic

oh and also make sure you didn't loose those Orings for the fuel lines and put all those fuel line and rail parts back in correctly, (the O-rings were stuck in the old IM for me)

just realized that when I was installing it, the throttle body cable was not adjusted 100% correctly at first, so it kept the throttle open just a hair... I would suggest putting the cable part into the arm (or the end of the cable just make sure it is in the hole with it wrapped around that metal.. thing I dono, it's like a half circle that holds the cable) but anyways do that first, than bolt the actually cable part that holds the cable firm into place so that the TB cable is not getting pulled on

things to remember for this install;

- you cannot reuse the block to manifold bracket / brace. this will not allow the manifold to seal to the head.
- ALL old gasket from the throttle body must be shaved off in favor of the new gasket. you will have leaks otherwise.
- make sure all the injectors have the black plastic rings on the nozzles.
- throttle cable will need to be adjusted.
- EGR valve must have its gasket on it and be tight to the manifold.

wait ken, you can't reuse the mani bracket?.. I used mine, but I put it on and tightened it after about a week of using the mani without it, just didn't get to it... but i just lined it up and tightened the bolts so that it wasn't pulling on anything, or anything like that, for support.. should be good right?

actually all I did was just unbolt everything, and since the bolts that bolt onto the engine or whatever it bolts up to have like oval holes, I just slide it up, and it lined up perfectly w/o any issues

everytime i reuse the bracket it screws things up. the new manifold is alot lighter and is not needed frankly

ya I'll check it here and there, I might use some thick rubber washers just so it doesn't strain it much, but see how things go, I like the idea of it supporting it, and the way I have it set up it's not really holding anything on at all, by screwing it up, you mean pulling on the IM and messing up the seal on the gasket right?

also, figured I would ask it now, what to the NSN thermal spacers actually do, I hear a lot about them, and have searched, but can't find anything about what the purpose of them
