i have a custom intake thats not street legal and my check engine light came on like an hour after driving and has poor acceleration
my intake is about less than two feet long and i have high flow air intake which is all metal
i reset the car but that light came back on after time
should i swap back to stock and reset it and see if it doing that?
(blah)

What he said.^^

Double check the MAF and make sure its secure, and installed the correct way. It needs to be fitted on the intake with the air flow directed towards the throttle body.

A "Custom" intake means you've changed the MAF housing's calibration with regard to the ECU. Put it back to stock, and if you want a new intake, get a brand of one that has already put in the engineering effort necessary rather then the Wild Ass Guess you did.

The MAF is an extremely precise and delicate sensor, and must be installed in the correct sized MAF housing to allow for correct measurements of the air entering the engine. Any deviation from stock housing size and you'll be off calibration.

K so if i get injen which is can i change th filter of injen to mying?
yeah i think ima put it back to stock it drives weird to hell lol

Does anyone other than me have this crazy feeling that he just doesn't have the MAF plugged in right, and its not metering s***?

I was just tossing something out there, and without a picture I have no clue about your set up at all...

NO. Its not too much airflow (in general.) It is likely mis-calibration as I mentioned earlier, and/OR the design creates turbulence in the airstream for the MAF, which throws off its calculations. Get the INJEN, and you should be all set.

if you reset the light and it came on instantly it was not related to flow... it was something not connected properly. your setup will probably work, just make sure everything is snapped in tightly. you would not get an instant CEL from air metering or flow or anything like that... those take some time to come on, especially when you reset it. try again and check it all before starting it up.
