so i have had my injen cai installed for about a week now. it seems as though my car doesnt shift as smooth now and also as i accelerate my car seems to make a tiny weird noise and my car seems to stop accelerating for a second then resumes as normal.have no clue wut this problem is.any suggestions on to what is happening?

Check the coupling hoses... I had a problem with the one to the turbo staying tight and the symptoms sound similar to what you're going through. Also, did you reset the ECU?

yh im pretty sure i resetted it.i unplugged the battery for awhile then plugged it back up.shouldnt that of reset it?

I think I had a similar problem when I put in my Ion CAI. Someone told me that with the more air coming through your cai your MAF can't read all the air so it makes your car drive liek crap (I'm not sure if this is true but it makes sense). The best way to remedy this is to move the MAF to the cold piping. I moved mine right before the throttle body and it was SO much smoother to drive. It is definitely worth it if you get a CAI in my opinion.

As puckpimp said check the couplers, especially the one from the turbo to intake. Does it make a kind of farting noise? Mine did this at first and that coupler was loose on the injen side and was letting unmetered air in when the turbo starting spooling and then would seal itself pretty quickly. It made a fart noise in the process, lol.

thx for the suggestions.how long did you guys remove the neg side of the battery to reset the ecu.

Just remove the negative side terminal. Then push the brake for a good 20 sec. to drain all power from the ecu. Replace negative side terminal. Then arm alarm, unarm, open driver door, shut driver door, arm alarm and unarm. You should be reset and good to go.

You may not have to do the alarm stuff, but I've figured out that this prevents you from having difficulties with the alarm after resetting the ecu, lol.

When I had the same problem the guys here told me to reset my ecu... it helped maybe a tiny bit but moving your MAF cures it completely.

You can't really move the MAF with stock pipes. Well, I guess its possible, but I would not reccomend doing so.

Ooooo haha ya that would be a little hard.

i think im goin to just try to reset the ecu again.and i'll make sure the coupling hoses are all tight.i was just thinking that maybe the turbo is kicking in and thats what the deep sound is comin from under the hood around 3000-3500rpms

What does this "deep sound" sound like? Is it kind of like "Burrrrrrrrrrrrrp", if so its probably that the coupler I was talking about has a loose clamp or it could be that the clamp has pinched the coupler a little and is letting air in where it is pinched. Mine was pinched just ever so slightly. I replaced the cheap hose clamp with a good t-bolt clamp and the problem disappeared.

I think this happens because the injen is a little smaller than the inlet on the turbo. With cheap hose clamps it is hard to get the coupler to seal properly against the injen. Another way to fix this, if you do not have quick access to t-bolt clamps, would be to wrap that part of the injen in something like emergency hose bandage tape that is very heat resistant and slip the coupler over the wrapped section. This will allow a better seal, but should not be considered a permanent fix.

Good luck

ok i looked under the hood. the coupling hose has moved up onto the cai piece and not connected to both turbo and cai.hopefully this hasnt caused damage to my turbo. i have no clue if it does if its not securely fastened. any one have any tips on how to get your arm in the tiny space to re tighten it for future use.seems like a pain in the a$$

use a long screw driver to tighten down nice and hard while the car is cold. After going for a nice long drive and the car's hot, re-tighten it. That should do the trick.
