Can anyone who has upgraded their intake verify if have noticed significantly louder turbo sounds? Also any turbo owners try the Borla stype bolt on exhaust?

hmmm, then ill leave air box oem, and perhaps use a borla bolt on and maybe ill hear more turbo sound from the exhaust...

I take it you have experience with the matter, how do you find the Borla bolt on type exhaust note on a turbo CX5? Also what intake TIP model are you referring to exactly? Would you say the "whoosh" was worth the price/install ? Thanks.

oh that inlet pipe sounds great!!!! i will buy the whole kit. thank you. I guess ill shoot for the S type Borla catback, it cant be crazy loud on this car, i watched a few you tube videos but you know its difficult to judge exhaust sounds from youtube.

But yeah the best is to run it to the fender, which no one makes a kit for.

I've been pretty happy with the intake sound on the NA 2.5. the 2.5T seems to also have some decent induction sound when you're on it.
The early Skyactiv's had an exhaust that you can actually hear, stock. But the CX-5 2.5T sounded like a muffled blender. They really muted the exhaust note with the newer models.

I deleted the second cat and replaced the OEM resonator with a vibrant high flow. In retrospection, I would have kept the second cat, but mine was damaged.

I guess I'm showing my age early. But I swore off using any of the high flow intake/air filter systems since I last owned my 94 Z28. I did use a foam type filter in a 09 Ducati 848 that has since been sold. The only reason I used the foam filter was because the stock filter didn't create a full seal around the inlets of the air box. So I figure the decreased filtration from the foam filter outweighed that of the paper filter setup allowing air to go through unfiltered.
I've seen various tests done on high flow performance filters and all of them don't filter as well as paper filters. Some paper filters from reputable manufacturers actually flow decently while doing a good job filtering the air. I also don't like the variable of having to clean the cotton/oil filter types which require re-oiling after cleaning/rinsing the filter. I've seen situations where the oil in the cotton filter gets sucked into the intake air and coating the mass air flow meter.
My three high performance vehicles all use paper filters because I rather have reliability over any slight increase in performance.

That's why the best performance replacement is the AEM Dryflow type filter, not the K&N oiled type.

I have been very happy with the Dryflow.
I also popped out the plastic restrictor that surrounds the lower hood latch. This is the source of the air inlet for the stock 2.5 NA airbox. Definitely louder and better air flow into the intake.
Nevada, would you say that just swapping out the stock filter for the Dryflow alone would make a significant sound increase without the low end torque hit from the short ram intake?

My car has 66000 miles, and the Dryflow has been in use the from the first 500 miles to date. I recall the intake sounding louder and overall throttle response is improved. Gas mileage may improve with a light foot.
It is a pleated design but does not use any oil which can foul sensors and maf.
