Installing Xm Radio Help

I'm new to the forum and just got a new 07 MS6. One question for you. Mine does not have satellite radio. However, it has a satellite radio button. If i get an external XM unit, can I wire it to that button so when I hit the button it will go over to my unit?? Is that possible??

The OEM sat radio interface is not set up for XM it is set up for SIRIUS. There are aftermarket plug in solutions to play XM thru your radio but it will not be 100% compatable with the OEM controls....

gotcha...I wanted XM over Sirius because it covers baseball so I can listen to the NY Mets. Appreciate it man. I just found a few little boxes that makes the XM play through the Media button... Hopefully that works because I need to play something more than CDs. Thanks!!

I have the Axxess system that I purchased on eBay. It works fairly well, the audio quality is great. The controls are a little difficult but you can control it from the steering wheel, and the XM information is displayed via the factory display, but there is no way to set/use presets. The only true issue that I have had with the unit is some times it will not connect to the device and I have to turn the igniton off and then back on again. (this has only happend 2 in the 6 months that I have had the unit). It will also interface with my Ipod and control it as well as display the id tags for the songs.
