Installed Trailer Hitch Pictures

In my case, it was more like 1/2", but the bolts that came with the hitch were short.
Therefore, tightening them alternatively was necessary.
There has not been any ill effect so far.

Update to my issue

I called etrailers and explained my problem and have since realized the true problem at hand. The hitch itself was either severely damaged during shipping or simply built incorrectly. One of the mounting plates was rotated or twisted about the axis of the hitch itself as compared to the other plate. We thought we were doing something wrong until I put the hitch on the ground and realized that one side sat 1.5" higher than the other side. This caused the larger than normal gap and wouldn't allow us to get the hitch in the correct position. After sending a photo of my hitch as is to etrailers, they sent a new one out the next day and emailed me a pre-paid UPS shipping label to send the damaged one back. Luckily i kept the box and didn't throw it out!
The new hitch arrived 4 days after I made the first call to customer service and I was able to easily mount the correct hitch that night. This time there was only about 1/2" of gap between the frame rails. They told me this was normal so that the hitch could get put into postion without having to remove the mufflers or the heat shields. Thanks for the quick replies!

CXP Sport Owner. I noticed that your factory hitch sits higher than all of the aftermarkets in another post. It looks better than anything I've seen. How difficult was it to cut the notch in the apron and what did you use to make the cut? I really like that it sits higher and your wiring is connected to the bar rather than a "dangling" plug. I'll definately go to EBay because the factory kit is $423.

Does anyone with an aftermarket hitch have any problems with their hitch scraping curbs, driveways, etc? I installed a Hidden Hitch on my wife's 2005 Toyota Sienna and it sits way too low IMO. It scrapes the driveway everytime (unless you hit it at just the right angle) - and she never does!

Thanks

PWR liftgate - wiring harness will be fun to install!!!

If you look at the inside of the rear bumper, you can see a square mark, where you are supposed to cut when installing the OE hitch.

I already have 2" accessories from my other vehicle. Do you know if Mazda sells a 2" receiver or is the only OEM 1 1/4"?

Factory installed 1 1/4" hitch

Hi there, first time post. Just brought home a 2010 GT AWD. So jazzed (yippy) like much of you about your cars. I've been driving Audis for over 12 years and just can't shell out that kind of money for repeated electronic issues. Great car. just expensive to maintain and now I have a couple daughters to think about. I can't tell you how happy I am with the amenities that come with the CX-9. It's pretty plush. I considered a Honda Pilot Touring and a GMC Accadia SLT1 before pulling the trigger on this and am a happy owner.

Anyhow, I purchased a hitch as part of the new car purchase. When I went to pick up the car, I pushed down on the rear bumper and it feels like its' not sitting solid. There's a little play and klunkadi-klunk pop to it. Anyone have this experience? The sales guy says they all do that. It's not super bad. I'm pretty AR so tell me it's normal so I can sleep at night.

Dropped the Hidden Hitch on last night.
Pretty easy install except for the 2 bolts next to the black module.
Having the wiring installed this Friday.

Just bough the Valley brand hitch from etrailer.com in the 2" receiver. I will try to install it next weekend and post up pics.
