Installed a new Horn last night, what a pain... Fiamm Hwy Blaster

^^ Did you replace the existing horn with a single Freeway Blaster or did you add it in with the OE so you have two?

I pulled the stock paperweight and replaced it with a Stebel Nautilus Compact.

See the attached picture for the twist I put in the stock bracket and the jumpers I added to facilitate tying into the stock wiring and picking up a ground. The horn points toward the grill when finished. Don't think this is as easy as changing a BPV because it isn't. You are working in a very tight space. It was definitely worth it. I chirp the locks just to hear it.

^^ I had a similar horn installed on my last car. A Wolo Bad Boy twin compact air horn that was basically exactly like that Nautilus unit. I loved it!

I didn't use one on the Speed since the horn addition was an afterthought since I was removing my bumper for something else already...Autozone wanted $50 for the air horn (when I know I can get it for about $30 elsewhere) and I didn't feel like shelling out for it...

any sound clips i want to c if its really worth it. i just got that bull horn but havent had time to put it in...

man....sounds like a much bigger pain. I changed my horn out after two people came into my lane and didn't respond to my horn, I knew it was time to upgrade. On my protege all I had to do was take out the grill and it was right there, not looking forward to doing this on my future 3.

1. buy fiamm low tone horn and some female/male wire connectors from your local auto parts store. also need some insulated wire (i used old speaker wire) and electrical tape. also good time to pick up some extra fuses (horn is 15a). $25 tops.
2. jack/ramp car and take off the 3 splash guard screws on the driver's side wheel - pull it back and you'll see the stocker
3. screw on the fiamm low tone to the extra bracket above the stock horn - there's even a threaded hole in it for the horn screw
4. unhook horn wire from stock horn (female connector)
5. splice together a 3 way wire with one male connector and two females
6. hook the 3 way wire up to the horn wire and the two horns
7. test horn and replace screws.

one high tone fiamm = please cut met off as i'm a power bottom funboy
high and low tone fiamms = you won't be embarrased to honk now

Yeah but then your walking a fine line on being a law breaker.

1225-b. Retail sale of frozen desserts by motor vehicle;
restrictions. 1. No person operating a motor vehicle engaged in retail
sales of frozen desserts as that term is defined in subdivision
thirty-seven of section three hundred seventy-five of this chapter
directly to pedestrians shall engage in any such retail sale: (a) unless
such motor vehicle is lawfully parked or stopped; (b) to any person,
unless such sale occurs from the side of the vehicle away from moving
traffic and as near as possible to the curb or shoulder of the roadway;
and (c) to any person standing in the roadway.
2. A violation of this section shall be punishable by a fine of not
more than fifty dollars.

Did this and took about 1/2 hour total. Nice result. Now my car sounds like it finally went thru puberty.(spin)

I put the FB using the provided bracket hung off the bottom of the existing horn bolt. I then built a splice with 2 female ends on it and plugged it into the existing wire. done and loud.

New Horns

Standard Horn

New Horns In Place Of Standard Horn

Wiring of the Relay

used the Standard Bracket and just Daisy Chained the Earth and i hard fixed the Relay with a M6 Cap Screw as there was a random bracket with a Thread there.. you guys may not have it on LHD cars but not sure :) but this fits perfect no bumper interference at all

My Attempt at Plastic Welding

Well after getting tired of crappy Houston drivers, I installed the secondary low tone today. Never done work on a car before, so it was a learning experience (meaning I spent way too much time under my car trying to figure out what I was doing). Its certainly louder, though it seems they are just a taaad out of sync, but its more than acceptable.

Was curious, I bought the $15 low tone at AutoZone. Its not a Fiamm, but it looks exactly like the Fiamm, made in Italy, and its branded as "Blazer Horn". Anybody know if its just a rebranded Fiamm, or a knockoff, or whatnot?
