well the fuzz got me today.. yes it turns out that it is illegal to use your horn when some dumbass is stopped at a green... he was stopped there for at least 15 seconds while all kinds of cars were wizzing by. i make my right turn then another turn into my parking lot.
thats when the CHP comes flying in like on the show streets of SF!

the officer asked me to open the hood of the MP5. said my injen intake was illegal.. " umm no heres the EO sticker" nope ALL open filter intakes are illegal. i just went to school on them.. " umm ok your right i'm wrong..
then his Jackass partner says to his buddy" i think those tailights are illegal and that muffler looks lillegal too"
funny their both stock..
looks like i get to spend a few days in the courthouse and another day at the smog waystation to shop that "America's Finest" was incompetent...

funny thing was he was taking pictures of my engine compartmant. he put his sungalsses (oakleys of course) right on my fender

i politly asked him to remove them off my car before he scratched the paint

so if you dont have your carb eo number from injen call them and get one ASAP.
not that it will doo much in this case.....

Ya know, I know you Cali guys have great weather and wonderful scenery and all that jazz, but you can have it because I do not have to deal with the s*** that you do as far as dumb ass laws and even dumber cops. I have friends that are cops and one of them pulled a guy over once for speeding. He told the guy, I clocked you doing 12 miles an hour over the speed limit, I pulled you over to tell you to slow down a little and I wanted to take a look at your car. He then had a 15 minute conversation with the guy, told him nice car and sent him on his way. If your out street racing and you get busted then you deserve it, but moding your car and getting harrassed for it is just plain rediculous!! Do yourself a favor...move.

Sorry
Griff

It seems like to me the cops in Cali are nuthin but a bunch of ass clowns. If it would have been me I would have swiped his shades of my fender and onto the ground then I would have asked do I smell bacon. It's funny cops thing the're big and bad well u find them some place without the badge and there 9mm then they don't act so tuff. Cops= ass clowns

i emailed injen for the Carb Sticker / number and they said there was none, is this true?
The Injen site says the following on our intake in their FAQ

Why didn't my Injen Intake come with a C.A.R.B. sticker?<br>
Injen Technology applies for C.A.R.B. certification. Due to the way the process works, we are not able to determine how long it takes to
obtain approval. The intake systems that do not come with a C.A.R.B. sticker are usually pending.

:'(

This is the response I got from Injen when I sent them an email inquiring to the 2.0L CAI:

It is CARB pending but we do expect approval within the month.
It does fit both Auto and Manual transmission.
Russell

That was on September 30, 2002

So I assume that it means the Injen CAI should be CARB approved very soon. I will probably be getting one, but not until CARB approval is a done deal and I have the money. Gotta set my stereo up first ;)

You guys think you got bad laws down in the states ?? Up here in Vancouver, Richmond. They tow your car if you have eyelids !! well, thats what happened to my friend.

Hey just move down here around the carolinas and do what alot of guys in charlotte do. Get a address of a friend or p.o box or something and register your car in south carolina. You can have straight pipes no pipes whatever because of no emissions requirements and as far as tinting windows they don't care if you spray paint the damn thing black. However you don't ever want to have a run in with a SC State Trooper especially those in the unmarked camaro's. Just face that the law is always going to be there. Kinda funny cause a friend that is a cop here in charlotte has car that is so illegal it's not even funny. He runs slicks most of the time and the windows are darker than black. Plus every bulb on the car is a hyperwhite. No other colors in any of his clears. What I laugh about is he actually drives to work and parks that thing at the station. Hey you know they always say if you can't beat them join them.

Is it legal in Cali for the police to do a search without probable cause? And if it is illegeal to do a search without probable cause, what was his probable casue to do the search?

I have absolutely no respect for morons who "flex" like that. They could give a s*** that now you have to waste all this time to clear this up.
I know way too many cops to have any kind of leniency toward acting like this. Most of the guys I know say that the #1 problem they face is that people just don't respect the police anymore. This example right here is a big reason why (aside from beating the s*** out of people).

Look, cops are human beings. They make mistakes. But pushing their power around over a ******* air filter, and incorrectly identifying "illegal parts" just makes them look like dumbasses.

And what would my remark have been?
[Dice]"And who the **** are you two? Neil and Bob? Or is that just what you do?"[/Dice]

Once a cop told me my fog lights were illegal and that each bulb was a $75 fine, he also told me extra brake lights were illegal, that night he threatened me with $600 in fines, I asked him to show me which lights were illegal and he got really flustered and started to mumble off a bunch of crap,
thank god he didnt actualy give the ticket though
ignorant cops piss me off,

Sorry to hear about that, Tom. Guess it's just another "civil servant" who got a little too big for his britches. Ialso ask where is the probable cause for the search?? I'd better be careful about opening my hood outdoors, lest the spy satellites are watching and I start getting tickets in the mail!

Looking forward to seeing how this one turns out...

A cop has to have probable cause to do a search of any vehicle. However, having someone open the hood of a car isn't really a search. And Tom probably could have refused, although it is easier and less of a hassle to not play games.

The "probable cause" could be that the officer has so many years of experience and he knows that a stock intake doesn't sound like the one on Tom's car (don't flame me, just playing cop's advocate).

Anyway, Tom, that blows that the "CHiP" had one on his shoulder and you got the short end of it. Give them hell in court.

How is you racecar coming a long??

UPDATE

the officer was a NO SHOW> I WIN!!!

side note
there were at least 3-4 cases with throwing lit smokes out the window. ALL of them were found gulty and 1K in fines! GOOD!
happy shifting
