Infotainment doesn't disconnect paired Bluetooth device on engine shutdown [Android]

:
2016.5 CX-5 GT AWD + Tech
Last night I installed some Infotainment tweaks via the AIO installer and panicked a bit when I noticed that my phone wasn't disconnecting from the Bluetooth pairing with the car for at least two minutes after I'd powered down, locked and walked away from the vehicle.

I figured one of the scripts broke the functionality, and reverting didn't make any difference. I was doubly concerned when my wife's MotoX exhibited the same behavior as my Nexus 5.

Before I took the time to flash the stock firmware back to the system I drove back to the dealership and tested this all out on a new 2016 Mazda3. Turns out that it's not my CX-5 at all, exact same behavior was observed on the stock 55.00.753 (North America) firmware in the 3.

Are any of you experiencing this?

I wouldn't have noticed it except that I use Tasker and Llama to automate specific actions when the BT disconnects from the car (and I'm at home vs not), such as locking the phone with a password or tweaking the brightness settings.

To test:
  1. Either get the car running or turn on in accessory mode
  2. Ensure your paired phone is finished connecting and is ready to use
  3. Kill the engine or move from accessory mode to vehicle off condition, open and close door to simulate leaving the car
  4. Is your phone still connected via BT?

From what I can tell the Infotainment system is failing to issue the disconnect command to the paired device, and instead the device is left to timeout (around 2-3 minutes on my Nexus 5). Using the DISCONNECT menu item within Infotainment BT settings breaks the connection instantly, so I know the system is capable of ending the session properly if it wants to.

Maybe the car design to have delay when you shut your car down like the headlights shut off after 60 seconds or something like that? Maybe the car will stay on for few mins and then then then then then shut it down. I don't know, I have a 2015 cx5, so no way I can test it.

I actually like this feature in my 328. Works great when your on the phone and have to shut off the car when getting gas in NJ since your not allowed to pump your own. When I pull into my garage and shut off my car I just change the audio to phone as I get out of the car while continuing a conversation. I wish I could do this in my 2014 CX5.

I've noticed that my Bluetooth stays connected to my phone even after my car is turned off. Not sure how long it stays connected though, or if it occurs even when walking away. I just know it does cause I sit in my car before work and my phone stays connected.

After around 10M away from the car the BT connection is broken anyway, so i don't see a problem?

Considering its taken me 5 visits to the dealer for a fix to my phone not connecting everytime i'm just happy to now see it connect everytime!
BT and Wifi module was replaced.
