info on mazdaspeed 3

It would be a good idea if they just took some engineering from the Volvo S40 T5 AWD. Not the quickest thing out there, but a very solid car none the less. If the AWD system on the T5 is anything like the AWD system on the S60R, that thing will be a winner. Keep in mind that the MS3 when and if it actually materialzes will not be meant to compete with the SRT-4. Just like the MS6 is not meant to be a direct competitor for the STi or EVO 8 (soon to be EVO 9). They are kind of in a league of their own. Either way if the price and the performance is right when and if there is a MS3 I would definately look at one. Espeically since I will be in the market for a 4 door in about a year and a half to 2 years.

I read in a few places that it most likely is gonna be 2 wheel drive instead of AWD. but I hope not unless they are gonna add as much weight as they did to the fatty MS6

Agreed. If you are going to spend that much on a turboed car, why not put a few more Ks into it and get the WRX which has AWD. Detuned engine? Wth does that mean? I'd just retune it back.
We'll see, if other manufacturers up their prices then there'll be more contest.

please inform SRT-4 owners of taht logic. And cars are getting more expensive. FWD cars are getting more and more expensive in price. like $15-18K is normal. use to be a civic was alot cheaper then it is right now.

and 2006 SRT-4 300 whp? Thats the stage 3 turbo upgrade and it does cost a arm and leg. I dont think the ACR package will put out 300 whp. SRT-4 starts at $21,345....but depending on the popularity good luck finding one that price. Dealer wasnted $23K for a SRT-4 here. So I think its safe to say SRT-4 starts at $22K

And lets all think of somethign more important...insurence.

As to why it maybe about $1K more expensive...maybe its this:

The Cosworth Casting Process

The Cosworth Casting Process was adopted for the 2.3 engine I4 cylinder block, the first time for mass production. This casting process has been adopted for the Formula 1 racing engine and uses the sand package to be filled with a molten aluminum alloy using a no turbulent electromagnetic pump, unlike a metal mold to be directly filled with molten metal.
The Cosworth casting process can make complicated shapes and achieves high integrity and density of microstructure. Mazda has introduced this technology originating with Ford and has built upon it to produce high quality products at lower cost by incorporating the production technology based on Mazda's original TPM (Total Preventive Maintenance) technology.
http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/static/mazdaSpeedDrivingEngineCasting.html

Cosworth casting process like the one rumored to be in development for the next GT-R R35...stronger VQ.

BTW I read a different article that says it will have 256 hp....at 1st I thought V6 but they said it was the same engien used in the MPS6 which has 270 hp? So perhaps a detuned Mazdaspeed 6 without the DI? I just think it would be better to use the Mazdaspeed 6 engine because it could make the engine cheaper and easier to manuactuer becuase you can devote a special assembly line and not need a team of engineers to reconfigure everything.

every one keeps sayin how the ms6 is really heavy?? curb weight is 3500 yes that is heavy, on the sticker on my friends sti it says 4000 lbs it has 270hp stock.. so wouldnt the 6 be the lighter one with the same hp....

what i am tryin to get at is that it is not a brick for a awd car...

by the by......sti isnt 270 hp. its 300...and not 4000 lbs.....3298

yeah I dont think i will be buying that one w/t no AWD, i would be better of buying the Hibost kit and, hope somoen make new motor mounts and a, LSD

Its official.....256hp on the 2.3L de-tuned MSP6 engine....no AWD, will debut at Frankfurt Autoshow....and no 2006 SRT-4 Neons to content...they are discontinued.

Pardon if repeat info

ok ijust get a autoweek magazine and it says that will be the same msp6 engine with 18hp less so it would be 256hp and you will see it in the frankfurt motor show in september

Yep, saw the same thing. The MS3 should be a beast.

wow, really? only 18 less hp. I wonder how much lighter it'll be? I still want to see solid info from mazda. Like I said before, I am not going to judge until rock solid factual numbers and specs are released

Please mazda make it rwd and put a 350 in it! :-) jk although id buy it. I have said since day 1 put 100 more hp and 100 more lb ft of tq and id be a happy 3 camper for life.

well go in autoweek.com and see by yourself if you don't believe me lol all i know is that the MS3 is going to be awesome.

yeah sounds like it has a lot of potensial. what kind of engines are mazda3 s and mazda6 i's running, its not an FS-DE is it?

well i don't know but the MS3 will have the same MS6 engine 2.3 turbocharged only with 18hp less .

hell no. neither the 2.0 nor 2.3 are fs engines. they are MZR engines. Totally new engines
