The 7541A is about $150 more than the Alpine, but I wanted to verify the claims I've heard about the Infinity.

Does it really push 111 watts RMS over the 4 channels? The Alpine pushes 40 over the 4.

Also the Infinity has variable high- and low-pass filters (32-320 Hz, 12 dB/octave). I have to be honest and say that I don't know what these are and what difference they make.

I don't necessarily plan on getting a sub and want to keep my stock head unit. Is the factory unit going to hold back the quality if I get the amp and 4 new 6.5" speakers? What can I do to combat this? What kind of 6.5s would I have to get to take advantage of the Infinity if I get it? Am I better off getting the Alpine and 4 Alpine type S 6.5s?

i install at a car audio shop and i have a 3 4door. High pass filter is used to filter out any low end (bass frequencies) going to the speakers. Low pass filter is used to filter out any high end (treble frequencies going to the speakers. High pass is used for regular speakers and Low pass is used for subs. As far as picking between Infinity and Alpine, Alpine is really meant for clarity not power. We dont sell Infinity so i don't know too much about their amps. I have two JL AUDIO amps, 500/1 and 300/4. I would recommend these brands: JL AUDIO 300/4, Rockford Fosgate P4004, Eclipse EA4000. I have had lots of success with these amplifiers and have had a minimal return on all three. As far as your speaker size in the car, it is actually a 5x7 in all four doors. I have Boston Acoustic NX87 series in mine. I also kept my stock head unit. It is very easy to integrate amps on the stock unit. You will be able to find all the speaker wires in the passenger kick panel. As far as input for your amp(s), you will have to use a speaker level converter or a line output converter. These essentially convert the head unit speaker wire output into RCAs. Quality loss is minimal, if any. The only loss with keeping the stock unit is control of the system. If you do add an amp on bass, i would suggest getting an amp with an external bass knob for better control.
