who in the maryland area has a blue mp3 w/yellow splatter paint graffics. cause your car is in the towson mazda shop, and I want to ask you some questions about your car (noise from engine). I am working on it right now.

well tearing it down to look at #4 cylinder. something not too good there

#4 rod bearing is toast. you are lucky it's warranty

So they have a "polished" bearing....lol.

That's definitely good they have a warranty....especially if the crankshaft needs machining or replacing.

how can i check to see if my car has a screwed up cylinder?

first listen to it, any weird noises. in this case the rod bearing had deteriated enough to create a knocking noise (very noticeable)

surprisingly the CS is ok

Damn...the CS in the FS motors must be stronger than I thought or they caught the problem just in time.

And say i have an intake and Short shifter in my car.... and i brought my car into the dealer and they found this same problem..... would they not fix it under warranty because of those parts?

It's too hard to tell It could be a number of things. we are putting a new set of rod bearings. the b**** of it is that you have to move the trans out of the way to get the block stiffner out of the way. might as well put clutch/pressure plate, and flywheel in while I am at it, joking.

I just read your post and some people b**** but it's just the dealerships covering their ass. I have done pleanty of mods to void my warranty but I understand how the car works and know how far to push it safely, so really I don't need the powertrain warranty (Turbo II RX-7 as backup)

To answer your question yes any modification of the intake system can potentially void the warranty

hey rx-kevin...i have had 2 new engines put in due to bearings spinnin in the first 2 engines of mine...if you do find something out on whut may be happening let us know...cause i know that iwould like to know for sure

hey rx-kevin...you familiar w/the lemon law? does everything have to happen in the first year? just curious...anyone else know the fundamentals on the lemon law please let me know cause i am on engine #3 and counting..only have 600 miles on this engine so far...hopefully it will last me w/out the bearings spinning again

all is well with the car, the rod bearings made it silent. but we had to get a rear motor/tranny mount cause the original one was destroyed, probably from wheel hop or something of that nature
