Immobilizer Interface

I recently bought a new Mazda factory remote start kit off ebay and had a pro shop do the install(way to much wiring and diagrams for me). My question is the shop did the install, but told me the Immobilizer Interface was bad! The installer handed me the immobilizer then showed me that the car would remote start with the key fob, but the ignition key for the car had to be near the ignition switch for it to start. So does this sound like it is the immobilizer or did they do something wrong with the install??

I have a new immobilizer on order so I hope it is that simple!

I know...ebay is not the place to get it, but luckily the seller said if it is the immobilizer he will refund me the cost of the new one. Aside from bashing the ebay thing....any answers to the actual question I posted

More of a caution than a bash. I wouldn't buy anything like that from anyone. Seems fishy for someone to be selling 'new' factory devices online. I'm a little concerned that the instructions to disable the immobilizer are so readily available.

Anyway, it could be the module or the install. If you have the installation sheet, I'd go over it and see if what they did matches the instructions first.
