Agreed. Not only is it a later generation production run but the aftermarket 'market' is much more populated. I personally think the Mazda3 will be a bit of a disappointment as everyone is all hyped up on the Miataspeed

i personally think that the p5 is nicer. it has more of an aggressive look compared to the 3. also, the 3 looks more like a minivan than the p5. if i wanted a bubble van, i would have bought a matrix. the 3 looks like the bastard child of a mazda6/rx-8 love affair gone wrong.

also, as a p5 owner, we will be part of a semi-exclusive club. anyone who didnt get one during it 2 year run is s.o.l....................................

I agree. The 3 looks nice but they got rid of a lot of the features that make it look more aggressive. They smoothed some things out and bubbled some corners. Nice car, but different, i'll take a MP5 anyday.

Let's remember that the 3 shares it's platform with the Focus. The P5 is also built in Japan, our 3 won't be. Personally I'm always hesitant about getting a first run vehicle... my pockets don't run that deep.

Yep, positive. Worldwide production for the 3 will be at one of Mazda's plants in Hiroshima. It's just the next-generation Focus that will be built over here.

The Beef Baron--a local icon! Not my kind of place, but it's still going strong.

I just recently found out about 3 but I wouldn't have waited anyway. I waited long enough to get my first car. I got a fully loaded P5 with every feature I wanted for a resonable price. My dad's $30,000 Acura doesn't even have a lot of stuff my P5 has.

3 kindda looks like a skinner trimmed version of P5. It looks nice don't get me wrong. I just wouldn't wait another year to get my first car.

I like that the P5 has a bit of that IS300 look in the front. It's a departure from the typical make everything smooth and triangular look. Besides, I'm not sure how I'd feel knowing that all my parts in the 3 would be Ford parts. Bleh.

IMHO...the three is ugly as piss, and looks more at home parked outside a soccer game filled with grocery bags! It lost all the flair that make the p5 so characteristic. The 5 looks like nothing else out there (except maybe the BMW wagon)....the 3 looks like everything else out there. I wonder if a little "baby on board" sign comes with it?

Yeah I think the Mazda 3 looks like the Toyota Matrix. I always liked the inside of the Matrix but hate the outside. I just bought my P5 last week and I have always liked the way they looked right from the beginning. I wonder why they are not going to make them anymore? They seem almost as popular as the Miata and the Miata is on its 14th year!
