i just took my car down to the dealership to drop it off cause im havin problems with 3rd gear and the clunking noise.
but heres the bad thing, the guy there claims since i have new springs and intake, that they void suspension and warentee issues. but hell do it for me if their supervisor guy doesnt come and check out the car. is it legal to say i voided the warentee over these 2 things. pray for me cause if it voids it, probably gonna pay for a new tranny. damn this mp3 trans!

It should only void the suspention warranty, not the drive train warranty.(if thats the way mazdas system works) they should fix your trans. under warranty, but the clunk I'm afriad you will have to pay for your self. from my experince at the honda dealer they shouldnt' really care if you keep it on the down low, just dont let any body from the "big mazda HQ" find out.

That's wacked man, you should complain to their service manager. There is no way in hell that your intake voided the drivetrain warranty. Unfortunately, likethe others have said, the suspension problem you won't be able to have the dealer fix it. Have you tried going to a different Mazda dealer?

sigh, why do these posts always come up. seriously it's been discussed a billion times over and over in a bunch of other forums as well.. ANYHOW, apparently there's a law preventing the manufacturer from voiding warranties if an owner decides to go with aftermarket parts unless they can prove that the defect is due to the aftermarket part. Obviously if you get different springs that aren't matched to your shocks then damaging the shocks isn't surprising and it follows that warranty wouldn't cover something like this. In your case, however, WHAT IN THE WORLD does an intake and suspension mods have to do with the transmission going bad. lol

I'd also say that just having aftermarket springs won't void your suspension warranty necessarily even. If a suspension problem occurred and it was unrelated to the springs, then by all rights they should fix it unless it was obviously caused directly by those springs.

exactly..

oh yeah, i remember what the act is:

it's the federal Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act
take that and shove it up the dealer's ass lol

Actually, I think they have you. The springs could also void the drive train warranty. When you lower a car, it changes the angle that the drive shafts are at, at all times. You and I know that this will do nothing, but they can claim it. And they have much more money than you if you really want to take it to court. I feel for you, but they've got you by the balls.

yeah but what every one fails to realize is that they can do what ever they like. they can tell some one with a stock car that the warrenty is void b/c they drive the car to slow or some bulls*** like that. Obviously they are wrong but you got to take them to court and that takes 1-2 years. in the mean time your screwed.
Doesn't matter how many laws you have on your side, the thing that matters is how nice the dealer is. B/c if the dealer is an asshole you are screwed untill you go to court.

Wow haven't had any of these problems. Both my dealer and the service manager have told me that the aftermarket part has to be proven the cause of the problem in order for it to void the warranty. He also said that as long as it was a mazda or mazdaspeed part that the warranty would not be affected. He even said if I wanted to do the mazdaspeed cams and other stuff like the springs nad shocks and such that I should have them put them on to garuntee no warranty voiding issues came up later on. Guess it really does depend on the dealer. that is why my mods are coming along very slow. I only have 4k on my car now and have only changed the oil in it once. I mean it is really just getting broken in and so before I start modding the engine / suspension etc... I want to make sure the car itself is ok and has no issues. Good luck and keep us posted. Oh yeah a few well placed letters and phone calls can go a long way in changing a dealers attitude. I went through hell and back with my Lightning. them telling me that factory recalls on it were void because it is a performance vehicle. I said yeah a stock performance vehicle from SVT a division of ford motorcompany. He still denied to work on the truck until I came back with a letter and a taped conversation to both ford corporate and to svt. Let's just say that the dealer promptly removed his balls placed them on the counter and proceeded to write my truck up for service. Doesn't have to cost you an arm and a leg. If you do your research and you know you are right then you don't have to fight in court. It can be done many other ways. Try sending a letter to mazda in Japan. the dealers get really freaked when they get any type of report going to the big big bosses.

oh really cuz i go to the one on 23 and they mad cool. the top guy in service (kinda dorty lookin guy) told me he would over look the intake and not to worry.

He also told me about your car. he said the reason why the trany broke on your car was b/c you power shifted. that was his opinion.

oh well

If they give you hell get it to another dealer and don't mention the upgrades. In no way can a CAI void a transmission warrenty. Also since the clunking is a known issue with a issued part number change they have to address it. Don't let them f with you go right to the BBB of your state if you have to. ALso Everyone is very right about a congressional law against a dealer or manufacturer un justly revoking a warrenty. It can be found on edmunds.com with some looking as can the organization that enforces it.

there is nothing in the warrantee that says you can not drive your car aggressivly........the truth be known....a dealer gets reimbursed by MAZDA for all parts and labor on warrantee work...it doesn't cost the dealer a DIME...so why are some of them dicks about it? I have NO idea...but some are.....just go to another dealer if these guys are going to be dicks.

it doesn't cost the dealer a DIME
Actually, yes it does. They have to pay the mechanic his hourly wage to install the parts, then he gets most of the commision from what Mazda pays for the labor time. My bro-in-law is a mech for Saturn and I was wondering how it worked and this is what he told me. It doesn't cost the dealer anything, but they could be making more money on other things instead of your warranty work.

yea

yea i know hes mad cool, they did over look the intake, but they blame the springs but i really dont care, maybe when i get my strut bar fixed it wont make nemore noise. but i dont power shift really only if i race and i barely do, and be sides, i had this same problem b4 but it acutally got stuck in 3rd gear so i learned not to do it nemore but it still happens. but hwatever, its under warrentee so the only thing thats makin me mad is bein w/o my car for a lil

hey lazer,

are they fixing you squeeking????? cuz when i asked him about it he didn't know any thing about it.

nah

i really dont have squeaking, i have clunking. and they said it may have somtehing to do with the brokin bolt cause they bar thingin keeps movin up and down so i dunno.
