im hitting 15psi with no boost controler, WTF

yes you read right my msp is currently hitting 15psi without a boost controler,

i dont know whats going on the past 2 days the car has been hitting 15psi and holding not just spiking, the only mods i have is a injen intake and a catless dp. I have had problems with getting a CEL pretty offten and the code is allways the same Fuel trim too lean Bank 1. its been looked at one for that problem and they didnt resolve it. and now i dont know what to do, im going to remove the mods and take it in, im going to try and get it on video of it holding at 15 to show them.

Anyone have any thoughts on whats going on? we think it might be a falty wastegate.
 
You probably have the vacuum line going to the wastegate broken off....that would explain the boost and the code. ensure the vacuum line isn't cracked.

My vac is at 20-21 so i dont think i have a vac leak, and we checked that.

Yeah that exact thing happened to me, felt great at 14-15psi until I started hearing pinging (shocked)
 
Use a vacuum pump and find out wether the wastegate is holding vacuum. If it is and you see the wastegate arm moving when vacuum is applied, then it is not your wastegate at fault. I would physically touch and look at the entire line to the wastegate to be sure it isn't cracked.
 
im planing on removing my mods and taking it to dealer some time this week, i just hope it hasnt caused any internal damage
 
Yeah this was happening to me to. I took it back and they fixed it. It started happening after the tech replaced my turbo hoses with bulk silicone hose. The stock hose was utter crap. It cracked and spilt all over the place. Anyway it was great fun for quite some time. (thumb)
 
I have a similar problem. Stock iam now spike to 9psi, holding around 7. But if i try and run more boost like 13 with unichip, BAM 17-19 psi and holds at 15...after checking everything im almost possitive its the wastegate, iam going to convert my car to stock and complain about the 9psi spike.

I would just replace the wastegate, but if you have the dealer do it then they replace the entire turbo!, weeeeeee new turbo..

A few people have had same problem as you tho, its your wastegate or a leak in the line, just replace that segment of vacume line, its less that 3ft.
 
I had this happen to my speed, the dealer said it was not a big deal and actually blamed it on my gauges calling my electronic greddy gauges faulty. I said ok, I'll bring it back when the engine blows. Well after about a week of it boosting that much I swapped all the vacuum lines. This still did not help. I put in a profec 2 utilizing the same vacuum lines and the problem dissolved.

F the dealerships I hate them and F their warranty too

(mswerd) to yo mother, i now use advan vac hoses, (jdm tyte yo), and if the dealershit says anything about it i'll just smack em in the teeth... i hate stealershits.

so did you tell the profec2 to only boost 6psi? or did the car just only make 6psi?

my greddy gauge has been acting retarded latly.. it spikes to 1 bar when im not boosting... the needle vibrates like crazy, and the thing is it doesnt do that all the time. today it was perfect,yesterday it was doin that....

This is exactly why I wanted at least a turbo gauge in my stock msp. I really don't know what is going on with my car, but I'm afriad that they'll use the gauge as an excuse to voide my warranty.
 
they've worked on the car once already and i had the boost and afr guage in there and they didnt say anything, i still have the CEL problem that they were working on.

As of this morning it is still hittinh and holding at 15psi, and i got it on video!! will post later when i get home
