Just curious to know if you have seperate or a joint checking account. I've been married for 4 years and still have seperate checking accounts for reasons unknown.(uhm)

just checking accounts, I would assume a savings account would be joint.

or maybe you do have more than one checking account, don't know why though. I'll add another option anyway.

I'm not even married and I have a joint account. makes paying the monthly bills all that more easy. We each have our own also.

My wife and I have joint checking, savings and CC accounts, however she has a seperate account that shes had for years, since before we got married. We'll have been married 8 years this May.

we both have our seperate accts and we have our joint accts, my paycheck is divided four ways through direct deposit, I was allowed to get a second job in which all money earned could go towards msp

Going on 7 months married we have a joint checking and savings. I'm in charge of the bills and banking. So its easy.

Only problem is during xmas or birthdays I see all transaction, so there are no suprises ya know.

Seperate accounts. He has his bills, I have mine. But we both have the same bank and can transfer funds to and from each others accounts when needed.

Joint she is a stay at home mom and can have any money she wants, that has to be the hardest job in the world and she does not get paid enough.

lol, after 10 years of marriage, she finally hooked me up about a year ago...after taking over on my P5.(enguard)
Joint...for now.

Married for 8+ years, joint account from day one. The only 'argument' we have is which car to spend the $$ on this month. ;)

Both....

We each put enough in a joint account for the bills, then each put a little into savings.

After that...we have our own money for whatever.

married going on 26 years....yeah you read that right...

we have SEPERATE checking accounts....

she works....her money is HER money...she has certain household bills that she pays with HER money....namely the phone bill and she buys all the FOOD! she also buys the kids clothes, birthday presents, christmas presents....all that stuff.

I take care of the rest with OUR money and my checking account.....

This way I know how much and where its going at ALL TIMES.....

I've been married for 3 months and we have a joint one and seperate savings as well. We've had the joint one together for over two years, it makes the bills so much easier.

I think the financial experts say to have seperate accounts even when married. I am starting to lean towards that belief as after getting a joint account with my fiance I seemed to have less money.

Although it seems to be a trend these days to have say 3 accounts. 1 joint, and 2 seperate, the joint account being the bills account and than you each have your own for spending money.

been married for 6 years. joint checking account for bills and our money (food, things for the house, things for out son who himself has 2 savings account). 2 savings accounts. 1 for her money, 1 for my money. we both have access to all the accounts. the only time i get questions about spending is when there is something that has been take out of the checking account and I have not moved money over from my savings account to pay for it yet. which is understandable and goes both ways.
