if you have a bug shield, sound off! I have some questions.

How many of you out there have a bug shield/guard on the hood? Can you post pictures? Do you like it? Does it work? How much are they? Is it hard to install? Where can I get one? Better than a magnetic bra? Are they worth the expense?

Thanks!

1) I do
2) See my avatar, or att.
3) Yes I do, very much
4) Yes it does, even deflects small stones from hitting the hood
5) I paid $110CDN installed at the dealer
6) Probably not
7) Bought it at the dealer. I read that they are available on ebay
8) Never used it
9) YES!

Had a magnetic bra, but just got the bug deflector. I was worried about water spots and fading with the magnetic bra. The deflector is simple to installl (took about 15 minutes) and I got mine from e-bay for $69. I love the look because my car is black and the deflector is smoke. I wanted protection for my hood so this should work equally as well as the magnet bra.

Worth every penny. paid $150 at the dealer. Easy to clean/easy to get underneath. I had a bra on my civic, got in an accident and switched to the bugdefl. Any car I own from now on will have one.

Protects the paint - may protect the windshield from the odd stone (maybe?) and looks nice.

I had the dealer put mine on before delivery so I've always had it on my P5. First time having one on a car and so far I'm glad I got it. Looks OK on a silver P5, fairly easy to take off when you need to get all the way underneath, and does a great job of protecting the hood from stone chips. I've had the car seven and a half months now and the hood looks new.

I like the magnetic bra better, it doesnt damage the paint like someone said on a previous post, it lasts a lot longer then the bug shield because the bug shield is easy to crack. I also heard that the bug shield affects your MPG because its not aerodynamic.
i read somewhere that it adds up to 75 dollars a year, dunno if its true.

LOL That's crazy talk...$75.00/year?! Maybe pennies/tank, if all you did was highway driving...IF that.

They aren't that easy to break. They are THICK plastic. A windshield is easier to crack than the bugguard I think.

hey im not saying i tested it, i just read it somewhere, chill out.

im not the inventor of the magnetic bra in an evil scheme to make everybody buy it, im just expressing my opinion.

hey, me too.

In fact - I've never even seen a mag. bra...so I don't know exactly how good they are or aren't.

There are very bad quality bug shields on the market. They are easily spotted because they are very thin, about the thickness, and they flap all the time at high speed. Mine says "Form Fit" on the driver's side.

I don't believe that they cost more in fuel, or so little, but they are sure worth it.

any bug deflector, bra, magnetic bar adds up to 15% for the fuel efficiensy. My mechanic who fixes BMWs for a living told me that. It's all cause it's not aerodynamic and it wasn't design by MAZDA when they were making the car.

Your Mechanic could be right, but I don't think ANY, but a few car manufacturers, test their designs in wind tunnels. 15% is a bit high in my opinion, and it is worth the expense anyway.

I got my bugguard this weekend and the installation was a breeze, really easy:

Purchase from:

Mazda of Wooster Via Ebay:

http://cgi6.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-...ersOtherItems&userid=mazdaofwooster@yahoo.com

They don't have any bugshield auctions up at the moment but if you call the 800 number and tell them you want the Internet pricing it's $69.95 plus $15.00 shipping. The thing comes in a box that's almos 6ft. long so it's pretty pricey for shipping.

WOW JHOTROD..get info and pictures. Thanks! Still undecided as to whether to get one or not. Thanks for all the input guys!
