If you could change one thing...

Probably although Ive been driving cars with sunroofs for 13 years and I have never had a single issue with one be it mechanical or otherwise. The only time Ive had issues is when I forget to shut it

I had my sunroof tinted so the film would help in case of the sunroof being shattered as it would keep the glass together.

During storm season, I always prepare to find shelter underneath gas station or bank drive up tellers during hail storms. Sometimes you can't avoid it but once I parked underneath a persons driveway which had a roof and that protected me from a bad hail storm.
Isn't it tinted anyway (uhm) Looking from above, it looks darker than a normal window

If there is a hail storm, the sunroof will be just a part of one's worry. Pretty much the whole top half of one's vehicle (bonnet, front windscreen, roof, rear window and boot) will be damaged.

Of course, but not the point I was making. We had a hailstorm last year that broke out people's front and back windshields while driving or parked if they were unfortunate enough to get caught in it. While that's no fun, I'd hate to add a sunroof to that mix directly above my head!

It's factory tinted like the rear windows on the CX5 are but adding the film made a HUGE difference in solar heat gain rejection. Prior to the tint the interior would get hot in the daytime but after the tint, there is very little heat coming in from the sunroof. I can now drive with the shade cover open in the daytime and not feel my head getting baked.

This is what I would really like but US Govt DOT won't allow it:

Also, this would be nice when reversing in tight spaces:

This would come in handy for long road trips:

15 here. Never an issue. But I've also never seen hail larger then a dime.

I did the AIO Tweak the warning is gone and the load times are cut in half.

Not sure what year you have, but I have a 2017, which unfortunately requires quite a bit more work than previous years. If it still bugs me after we get Apple Car Play (if it ever really comes), I might look into it more. Unfortunately the warning will remain.

It had zero to do with the year. It's the software version. There have been reports of 17s with the older firmware.

If you're in a hail storm, sunroof is the least you need to worry about. There's a shade underneath the sunroof's tempered glass which will prevent shattered glass falling onto your head even if it's broken. With all the dents on the metal roof and hood, the cost of replacing a sunroof glass is almost negligent. Besides, we should worry about our weak and expensive windshield more than the sunroof as it's been proven from my past 2 experiences that the windshield will be cracked or broken long before the sunroof gets damaged during the hail storm. ;)

My windshield isn’t weak and yours shouldn’t be if it got replaced.

Mazda Mobile Start - make it work seamlessly.

I park in a parking ramp and live in Minnesota. It would be soooo nice to be able to preheat my car before I head home when it's -10 degrees. But this got such bad reviews that I opted for a traditional line of site remote start that my dealer recommended. Which will work in the morning but be useless at end of day.

None of these were deal killers, but would certainly make me happier :-)

-Rear camera guide lines that turn (my son's Focus has it, so easy to parallel park in city)
-Folding side view mirrors (I manually pull mine in anyway)
-Car Play
-tougher paint finish (I had a Camry for 12 years, no dents on hood - 3 yr old CX5 has several)

I am just speaking from a safety standpoint, not repair cost standpoint. Of course the body damage would trump it...

Speak for yourself, my original 2014 windshield lasted almost 4 years before it cracked on a rock hit. Current one is almost a year old and not so much as a chip or hit needing repair that I can see. Even if it does, it's $100 to replace through insurance, or about $350 without.

Fair enough. I presume if it did break it should be into small pieces and not shards

Good to know. Thank you (thumb)

I wish it had captain's seats with adjustable armrest instead of bucket seats OR that the center console had an adjustable cover so you can use it as an arm rest (like in the CR-V). I like to drive with my arm resting on an armrest/center console but the one in the CX-5 is way too far back for me to keep the hand on the wheel comfortably.

I would raise the controls for the climate system and then move the cup holders to the front of the console area.

I agree with this. If they make the climate control on par with he mazda 6. Move the start button by the screen and move the passenger airbag notification strip to the rear view mirror area there is a lot they can do with the space. My accord had a open cubby like the CX-5 does then had a flap door with additional storage. It was good to put stuff in there and flip the door down and you can’t see it.

Also the climate control is really low and makes you take your focus off the road while driving as I’m not used to it’s placement. It’s really low.
