Idle Issues: Sudden "blip" drop in RPM and Stuttering

I started to notice this same issue on my car last week, and after finding this thread I decided to change out just one of my coil packs, plugs looked ok, and the cars been running pretty good since I changed it on Saturday, but I also noticed the idle is now around to 500 range too.

What spark plugs are you guys using? I had this exact same issue and I also had another issue where my car would have a jumping feeling when I went from a stand still full acceleration. I was using the ZFR5F-11 plugs, these are a longer reach plug and are meant to be better but can cause hot spots. I changed to BKR5E-11 and all those problems disappeared. I can now gun it from a standstill smoothly, and the random idle issue is gone.

My feeling is that those hot spots caused by the long reach plugs caused pinking (preignition) at idle and when at full acceleration. This would also explain why the car has even more erratic idle when the engine is warm and has a load (ie air con on).

Mine does this too. Brand new EGR, solid air intake, pretty sure no leaks. (after market tho.)
I'm thinking coils, plugs and wires will probably cure it... but I got bigger fish to fry ;)

Hmm I have same issues with new plugs. so I will look at the tube and get new coil packs and wires... how many coil packs do i need 2 or 4 ?

i use ngk iridium plugs, part number BKR5EIX-11, improved mpg slightly and idles better than the copper ones do as well. seems generally more responsive with them in combo with k and n filter. the air intake boot rips cause the exact issues this thread was started for mine had it and new boot cleared it up.
