Ideas for subs

Hey guys, just bought a 05 m3 and I am interested in throwing in some speakers.
I've been looking through this forum and others and have got some ideas.
I think I'm fine with the stock HU, but I would like to add some base to the trunk. I've seen pics of a sub in the spare tire, in the panel that houses the jack, and in a cubic enclosure free in the trunk.
I realize that there is information all over this forum, but I was hoping for some advice as to which direction to go.
I used to have 2 12" JLs with a kicker amp in an old car, and I liked the setup alot, but I suppose I could settle for a little less umppph.
My installation experience is very limited, so I was planning on having it done by someone, especially if its custom enclosure like some i've seen.

Any thought/ideas welcome and appreciated

The bose system makes it hard as ****. Do you plan on replacing the stock headunit with a new deck? Just go for a Re-Q

it seems like the head unit is tough to replace, so I was going to leave it.
I was just looking for some ideas for subs

sub suggestions

Pioneer just came out with the TS-SWX310. It is a sub enclosure and 12" shallow mount sub. Can be had for under $200. Dimensions are approx. 30 x 6.5 x 14". I am thinking of getting this because I can put it in the hatch and still have room leftover. Also, if I need to put long stuff in, I can put down the rear seats and then reposition the sub length-wise if needed and still have plenty of usable space. Best Buy sells it so I might try it out first.

Mazda3mods is supposedly close to offering an 8" sub enclosure that replaces the side panel where the jack goes. JL audio is supposeldy close to offering a stealthbox that fits into the spare tire compartment. However, none of these are ACTUALLY available yet.

you can do 2 12" JLs in your car...and not take up a lot of space...which JL 12" are they... i mean if the mounting depth is around 6-8 inches...you could make a pretty nice box that would fit in the hatch or trunk depending...

there are a lot of pics on here....

Personally if I had 2 12" iw ould make a custom box raise the floor of the trunk so i could still access the spare. There is a guy on here that did it. With a frame so that you could just lift up the entire structure to access the spare.

Custom fiber glass and all. But if not...

You can jsut do a solid carpeted box. Sealed. that would span the section of the trunk where the floor lifts to access the spare. sub on each side...then mount the amp in the middle of the box...run cables through the bottom under the carpet.

Tadah....any of those ideas work

Last but not least.... you can get someone to make you a custom mold for 1 12" where the jack is...and relocate the jack. I have seen a couple box....it looks slightly out of place...but if you do it right...you can make it look good...with the right carpet match.

I would do something really cool with 2 12"s if i were you...

But i only have the choice of either a 15"

Or a small 10" Kove XS series

Imma do something awesome with the 15" you will all love it...
give me till next xmas its gunna be a big project....
Plus i wanna do some MAKE IT GO mods first...lol

It's way easier to just get an aftermarket stereo...there are no RCA outputs on the HU. Also. I had two 10" alpine Type S speakers in there powered by an 800 watt amp and it was surprisingly very loud!
