I would just like to rant alittle- Gas Prices

I just came back from filling my tank on the MP3. With a 1/4 tank left it cost me $38.00 to fill her up!!!! These gas prices are getting way out of hand and there is no end in site. Some gas stations my me were totally out of gas and another was selling gas for $3.99 a gallon!!! The Goverment needs to step in and control the prices, with gas being used by everyone everyday. I am thankful that I can go 1-2 weeks on a tank, while all the SUV guys are spending close to $100 a tank to fill up their Hummers, Burbans, Excursions, Escalades etc.

I know that the prices have spiked because of the unfortunate events down South last week. My heart goes out to all of the families and people aiding in the help down there. BUT before that with the mess in Iraq and the oil prices shooting up ever since we went over there, it just getting to the point of insanity.

It just really pisses me off that something that every person on the planet uses on a daily basis can spiral outta control and get to become unaffordable to the regular person. I am sure that I am not the only one that feels this way. I just had to rant for awhile-felt like I was driving a truck with the $38.00 gas bill.

yeah, this is just insane, and the worst part of it is that this hurricaine is almost irrelevant in terms of an impact in oil supply in this country. we get 10% of our oil in this country from these areas, so there is no excuse for these exorbitant prices. the oil companies are just using this situation as an excuse to line their pockets even more. not many people that oil companies have been posting record profits in the past few years, so all talk of an oil shortage is a bulls***. but don't expect any relief in gas prices from the bush administartion - they're the ones profiting from these prices. what wonderful leaders they are. and such great leadership with this hurricaine - bush was golfing on the day the hurricaine hit, and was giving a speech on social security on the day after. (blarf) everyone, PLEASE vote democratic in 2006 and 2008; it's the best thing you will ever do for this country.

1) Oil is a limited resource and we have almost used it all up, it's getting harder and more expensive to find and drill.

2) Not every person on the planet uses a car, not even close.

3) I'd be more affordable if automakers really cared about getting metter MPG on their cars, but there's no reason for them to care. Look at SUV and truck sales in this country.

I total agree on the fact that the oil companies are taking us for a ride as far as gasoline prices, exxon reported a 30 % increase in profit in july (I believe it was), they are just kicking us in the nuts and in the wallets. However, I don't think it is fair to blame the bush administration for the price of gas, that's just scapegoating. And the fact that he went forward with a speech that was planned during the same hours as the hurricane isnt appaling to me, The country can't go into complete standstill on account of the weather. Life goes on, thousands of victims die every day on account of crime, improper healthcare, violence and abuse, than the mere hundreds who died in the hurricane. Neither of these issues can be neglected.

It is not even the cars.. It is the trucks for delivery of everything that it takes for society to survive, local agencies-Police-Fire-EMT-Buses-some trains, taxies, air planes, etc. With plenty of other machines in commercial industry that use gas to work. It is a needed resource, and until they come up with an alternative fuel that the entire world accepts and is affordable we will continue to rely on fossil fuels for everyday functions.

Lets all thank President Bush kids.... Thanks President Bush

I do agree that the country was better when Clinton was in office. And dont blame me, I didnt vote for Bush.. Even though its mosty run by his father and Cheney.

so if thousands of our own citizens are dying in Lousiana it is okay to "stay the course" and talk about piddly-ass issues like social security. excuse me but i think we SHOULD bring this country to a standstill to help our brothers and sisters in need; especially since our federal government appears to be too inept to do so. you're right; weather is weather, but when thousands of people are dying in the streets from lack of food and water and healthcare because our government can't get their act together, we have to put down our TV Guide and our National Enquirer and start holding these bastards accountable.

accountability and the current administration are like oil and water (no pun intended)

I was talking with my mom about the crazy prices and she made a good point....What reason do oil companies have to bring the price down if they know were all already willing to pay this much....

Cause if we keep having to pay a lot of money, we might actually push for alternative fuel sources. Duh. No one in our administration want that.

I'm surprised someone in NYC is complaining about gas prices. I'd die to live there where I can take mass transit (subway) too and from work, have pretty much anything I could want within walking distance... Hell, I would probably not even own a car.

how about we quit wasting money on starting more and more gas threads....

gas is expenise, you cant avoid buying it, shut up & drive...

Taking public transportation is not an option for me and my job. I do not sit in an office all day, I am out at various locations throughout Queens, and sometimes CT. My car is my mobile office- I carry a laptop, portable printer, plenty of papers etc place to place and I use all of the space in my car. My GF is the lucky one that takes the train to work everyday and only uses her car on the weekend. And having a car is nice, unless you live in Manhattan and then you dont need one really( I live in Queens). Plus paying for a spot in Manhattan can cost well over $300 a month for a car that you would maybe use on the weekend.

I am glad that my MP3 gets great gas mileage. (nana) Cheers to 4 cyl engines.

Pete
