Why Mazda didn't use a composite rear hatch on the MS3/Mz3 like they did on the Mazda5. I know they did it on the Mazda5 to make the weight of the hatch manageable to people, but It occurred to me that they could have saved a few pounds equipping the MS3, thereby improving performance, with a plastic hatch.

Like I said, I was just wondering.
 
I would say cost and less weight in the rear may not be a good thing on a FWD car
