I unlock the trip computer and see 13mpg!

So I got around to unlocking the trip computer today on my sport and see that my car has been getting 13mpg average. NOw when I got it the car had about 240miles on it and I have put about 30miles on it because all I did was drive it home from the dealer and park it. So someone was being a bad boy in my car.

15 miles she was on the showroom floor, by the way congrats on the car man! don't worry about your car she is durable i've been rippin 6500 rpm atleast 20 times a day and i now have 25k and doesn't use any oil, is perfect!only thing that sucks is ive gotten 3 speeding tickets....

Ok. No I am not really worried at all I was gonna do the hard break-in method anyway. But it is crazy that with 240 miles it averaged 13mpg they must have just been blasting in it.

the Avg. MPG function on most cars needs to collect a few hundred miles of data in order to give a normal reading... For Example: I JUST finished a testdrive with a customer in a CR-V. The AVG MPG in the vehicle was reading 6.5 mpg and slowly crept up as we continued to drive the vehicle.

also, you can guarantee that 90% of the driving in the car so far has either been putting around/idling @ the dealership or testdrive where no ones a gas miser. Niether are good on that system for tracking...

no fears... I wouldnt think about the avg. MPG reading until youre done with the initial "excitement" driving... youll just upset yourself more with the readouts youll get.

I wonder why that is why would the avg be so low at first? I haven't even check my current gas mileage function yet since I am still waiting on my snow tires before I drive it.

I kind of doubt that there will be an unlock on the 08s.

There is no "unlock" on the 08 Sport. The trip computer is in the radio and Mazda changed radio suppliers for the 08 sport. The program is not there to unlock. I installed an '06 6 disk changer in my '08 and unlocked it without problem.

Yea I am more happy with the money I saved than I would be with the pearl white. The dealer that I was gonna get the white one from was gonna charge me like 26,200 OTD(of course it was a gt model) But Ireally only wanted a sport so I am happy.

Where did you buy your 06' headunit and how much did you pay? Seems they are going for about $200 on Ebay right now.
