MSMS3, thank you for the very detailed and informational post. You have convinced me that there is negligable power gain. When people create posts like yours, it helps sway my opinion. When people just jump on the hate bandwagon and call me a retard without any facts on their end, I just tend to ignore them.

I find it almost discouraging to post anymore on here when regular members post thoughtful and factfull posts, while site moderators just stick to childish comments about my intelect.

This was in some sense an experiment. I was bored and wanted to see what the car would be like with the exhaust taken off. I got what I wanted out of it. A louder and arguably nicer sound from the car while spending $0. As I keep stating, this is not a permanent modification like many members believe. It's simply a temporary modification to quench the thirsty mod bug sitting on my shoulder. My plan is to return the exhaust to the car at the end of July.

The coil cutting post was a joke. If you look closey, I put "just kidding" in white text.

I don't see anything particularly out of line... I don't think anybody caught that you were kidding about the spring cutting... and it was somewhat believable that you'd do so after cutting your exhaust off. I'm sorry you were offended but, I also feel you're being a little overly sensative.

P.S. that sounds like the repair work I did on my intrepid....

lol not the "R" didn't stand for retarded, it stood for Ricer. Which, by the way, I didn't even start. And, just as one more piece of defense...you have to admit that cutting the exhaust and a couple coils off your springs IS pretty rice.

GoFast, again I appologize. I'll admit that is was a ricey thing to do. My intentions were "rice." I just wanted my car to be louder. I'll admit that.

And Wagonbacker9, I too look forward to having the money for my car. There are so many things on my to-do list. It's just a matter of getting settled into a career after I graduate and start making money to where I don't have to dump my money into tuition (which is continually on the rise).

In Moultese's defense, someone asked earlier in the thread why he had to cut the exhaust ahead of the muffler to get the CBE out. He probably did it the way most others have.

If you are going to completely remove the CBE, either for his experiment or to install an aftermarket CBE, the only ways I know to get the *%$# thing out is to either remove part of the rear suspension, or cut the pipe somewhere between the last reso and the muffler. Maybe there's some other way, but looking at it carefully, I can't see it.

He can put it back together on the cheap with a male to male (female on each end) short section of pipe to slip over the ends he cut and a couple clamps, after he squares off the ends a bit.

Nah, it probably would be more fun and entertaining just to use the Sawzall without knowing how. But I ain't getting it near my Speed.
